Las Vegas Taxis Will Adopt Lower Flat Rate Fares From The Airport To The Strip
Taxicab demand in Las Vegas has plummeted after the coronavirus shut down the tourist corridor.
Taxi ridership in the Las Vegas Valley dropped 97 percent from February to April, according to Taxicab Authority data.
In February, Southern Nevada saw 1.1 million trips by 16 taxi companies in the region. That dropped to 28,736 in April when all major resorts along Las Vegas Boulevard and non-essential businesses in the Valley closed for the month.
The impact of the coronavirus was also visible in March, as ridership fell 55 percent to 499,926 trips compared to February, as stay-at-home orders were proposed on March 17.

Of the 16 cab brands, ten are still operating, while the other six have voluntarily and temporarily stopped operations, the taxi authority said. Seven of the 10 brands operate under the YCS and Newcab umbrellas, the other three being Desert Cab, Western Cab and Lucky Cab.
