T-Mobile has released a list of cities that will be getting their new 5G home internet service, so of course I made a map.
T Mobile Coverage Map 2023: How It Compares
Below is a Google map from T-Mobile's PDF list of cities and towns (opens in a new window) that are expected to be the first to get the service, as it will initially cover 30 million homes. The list is based on metro areas, so some large, combined areas (such as "Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington", the tri-metro region) are shown as points to avoid cluttering the map.
Anyway, this is all approximate. As with other services of this type, T-Mobile doesn't provide an accurate coverage map, but at least it gave me a good reason why not. T-Mobile only sells service based on available network capacity. In other words, if your neighborhood has enough wireless network capacity to support 50 homes and 100 people try to sign up, half of those people will get an "unavailable" message. Signups will also be limited because the company only has a limited number of Nokia modems that it uses for home gateways.
However, this map provides some initial guidelines. The map includes both major metro areas and smaller cities. It's an open question how far the coverage will go from cities, but remember that the location needs T-Mobile 5G coverage to be viable.
T-Mobile sells the service for $60 a month, including taxes, fees and modem, with no contract. The company says users should expect download speeds of around 100 Mbps, and it expects 7-8 million people to sign up by 2025. Learn more at Tmobile.com/isp (opens in a new window).
