The federal government has opened a special enrollment period until August 15, when anyone without insurance can buy it through healthcare.gov. Perhaps more importantly, the latest provision of the American Recovery Plan Act will provide additional financial assistance for the next two years to people who buy insurance in the ACA marketplace.
In Illinois, 340,000 seniors between the ages of 50 and 64 can take advantage of this special enrollment period and extend premium tax credits, including the 7.5% of Illinois seniors who are uninsured and eligible through Insurance Resources.
