2. APPLICATION - Apply EZ Seed® evenly so that the area is more covered but bare soil is still visible so that the seed is in contact with the ground. When watering, the mulch will expand 4 times to help cover the seed and keep it moist (use in half for thin areas). Use only the recommended amount so that the seedlings have enough room to receive water and nutrients.

3. WATER - A deep and thorough initial watering is the key to success. Water the area gently until the EZ Seed® is completely saturated and no more water is absorbed (this may take several minutes). Avoid collecting water. When EZ Seed® begins to brown, it's time to water again. Continue watering daily as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings are at least 2 inches tall.
Spring and early summer are the best times to plant EZ Seed® because seeds germinate best when daytime temperatures are between 60 and 80 degrees.

Q: I want to reseed bare areas of my lawn and don't want to wait too long to see results. What grass seeds grow the fastest?
A: Waiting for grass seeds to germinate and mature can feel like watching grass grow! After all, the average grass seed can take eight or more weeks to germinate (that is, sprout from the soil) and turn into a established lawn ready for foot traffic. Fortunately, fast-growing grass seeds can go from seed to seedling in as little as five weeks, an advantage when planting in poor soil or reseeding in areas left by erosion or pets. Read below on what seeds to sow for fast and steady grass growth.
Not all fast-growing grasses can tolerate the temperature where you live, so choose the right seeds for your climate: winter or summer. Cool-season grasses thrive in areas with hot summers and many cool winter days—think Northern California, the Pacific Northwest, the upper Great Plains, the Midwest, and New England. Warm-season grasses grow best in areas with hot summers and cold winters, such as the South and Southeast. Do you live in a "transition zone" between north and south (eg, from Southern California east to Virginia)? Both cool-season and warm-season grasses will grow well, so take or plant warm-season grass first, then manage (replant) with cool-season grass.
Plant the seed in the growth phase to ensure that the grass will grow in the short growth intervals listed above.
Do Ants Eat Grass Seed?
As the growth periods above indicate, cool-season grasses generally grow faster than warm-season grasses. So if you live in a temperate or temperate climate and will be growing a warm-season grass (such as Bermuda), consider managing it with a cool-season grass such as ryegrass. You will see early grass growth from the faster growing winter grasses and eventually get the benefits of a heat tolerant lawn as the warm season grass grows.
Not surprisingly, fast-growing grasses require more mowing to get the tops to the recommended height for the species (usually listed on the seed packets). While regular lawns may need to be mowed every one to two weeks, faster-growing cool-season and warm-season lawns require regular mowing to keep the lawn looking fresh. For example, Bermuda grass generally needs to be mowed every five to seven days to maintain a sufficient height of one to two inches, while grass needs to be mowed every seven to 10 days to maintain a height of 1.5 to 2.5 inches.
