Craigslist Nc Trucks For Sale By Owner - When is a truck not a truck? When it's a muscle car. What we mean is that classic muscle cars are priced to where many fans should count themselves out of attendance. Maybe that's for the best because classic trucks — classic Chevy trucks — are not only cheaper than muscle cars, they're also much simpler. This means that the skills required to roll up your sleeves and dive in are more manageable for the average gearhead. Fewer parts also mean that the repair and build portion of your project can proceed at a faster rate, leaving you more time and money to enjoy your classic Chevy truck.
At HOT ROD, classic Chevy trucks are the current kings of affordable performance. Aside from their boxy profile, there's almost no difference between them and classic Chevy muscle cars like Camaros, Novas, Chevelles and Impalas. Classic Chevy trucks pull off all the standard hot-rodding tricks and gobble up all the standard Chevy engines, including small-blocks, big-blocks, diesels, and many swaps like in the latest LS V8 model. Beyond the availability of more horsepower, the aftermarket supports classic Chevy trucks with large disc brake kits, performance suspension systems, cooling upgrades, ignition systems, sheet metal, rolling stock, trim pieces, upholstery and all manner of comforts. .

Within the classic world of Chevy trucks, there are different types. The most favored by performance enthusiasts are the half-ton classes, which are closest to the mass of muscle cars. The Chevy (and GMC) C10 is one to look at and is available in a bewildering variety of options. Body styles are divided into long-wheelbase and short-wheelbase models, with a slab-style side (sometimes called a float side) and a streamlined side that further differentiate the look. Although crew cab compartments are all the rage today, the shorter standard cab dominated truck fleet sales in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. For the hot rodder, this translates into less weight, a more elegant and more simple.

Classic Chevy trucks are further divided into model year breaks that define the style. The first generation classic Chevrolet C10 trucks were built from 1960 to 1966, the Action Line models were built from 1967 to 1972, and the rounded line (also known as square body) from 1973 to 1987. This is the most sought after and is the subject of our treasure hunt today! We've scoured Craigslist on all the major markets to see what's for sale right now and dug up these 10 classic Chevy trucks for your next hot rodding project. Let's see.
You gotta love a guy who can be this honest, "there's a lot of rust in all the usual places". Get past that and you'll fall in love with this 1979 Chevy C10 Short Wheelbase Bonanza model. We can't argue with the seller's asking price of $2,800, and yet he runs the "yard," whatever that means. The ubiquitous Chevy small-block V8 resides under the hood, and interested parties can click here for this offering from Dahlonega, Georgia. You'll want to see more of these photos in our gallery, along with extras on the upcoming nine classic Chevy trucks.
If you're looking for a classic long-wheelbase Chevy C10 that says "Roadkill" on it, this multicolored briefcase is ready to make your Freiburger dreams come true, no running small-block V8 and everything. As one of the later models in the Action Line, it's more desirable, and the (mostly) uncluttered grille is a plus. We found it on San Diego Craigslist here in the Escondido area, so the rust is limited to most of the surface patina.
Raising another $501 we find this classic 1978 Chevy 350ci equipped truck, also from the Craigslist area of San Diego. The seller must have looked hard enough to get some photos of the door rocker panel rust, but we won't bother painting it since its condition is just the right shade of ratty for a sleeper truck. Note that this one has been off the road for a few years, and California buyers will also have to shell out an extra $330 for registration fines.

Clair on the east coast, south of Orlando, Florida, in St. Cloud berg, we see this sweet LS-swapped short-bed style side unit from the square-bodied union. This one has all the features you want in a junior muscle truck: short bed, fleet side, LS swap (a 5.3 liter LM7 from a 2001 model truck) and a Turbo 350 trans with 2,500 rpm stall converter / min. Looks like the seller is off to a good start on building a muscle truck (hey, that's red too!), saving a lucky buyer a lot of extra trouble. Note the slight corrosion in the drip rail on the driver's side.
Inexplicably, first-generation C10s weren't as expensive as second-generation "Action Line" models, making this short-wheelbase 1963 Chevy C10 (Stockton, CA) a screaming bargain. A mixture of light surface rust, mold and peeling layers of old paint give it a usable patina, with no evidence of deadly cancer. It needs a new wood bed (don't they all?), the small-block Chevy V8 (probably a 283ci or 327ci) will need a rebuild, and the interior is definitely worth a new dash and seat covers, but it's a keeper.
The most experienced project builder would like to seriously investigate this rare 1969 CST trim level C10, originally equipped with a big block 396ci Chevy. The CST was a loaded machine when new and included bucket seats, a center console and a variety of trim items that, although long gone, made this short wheelbase a desirable model when fully restored. It's a strict roll, but the seller also included a ton of extra sheet metal (both old and new), a bench seat, and a bunch of features that you can check out in Scottsdale , Arizona Craigslist list here.
It's unclear if this 1980 Chevy C10 Short Wheelbase is a running car, but the seller (Rialto, CA) claims it's rust-free and for an extra $1,000 you can get the 454ci big-block Chevy crate engine and (probably) Turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission. You have to install it yourself, but if everything works, you can have a working muscle truck by the end of the weekend. The seller says he's totally firm on the $8,000 price, but if you want to splurge on your own updated LS drivetrain, you can take it home for $7,000.

New York cars always have a dark cloud over their heads from the harsh winter weather and all the salt on the roads, but this intrepid seller found this long wheelbase 1966 GMC C10 in Idaho as an almost complete restoration of the middle. Rhetorical question: Is salt and snow better in Idaho than Long Island? You'll know right away when you pull the trigger on this straight-six manual trans pickup, be sure to carefully follow the directions from New York to your holy grail here.
We don't know what garage gear the salesman's wife beat him to, but he ditched his 1981 Chevy C10 short-wheelbase project truck (Eastern Connecticut) in favor of a BMW or Mercedes. As a mid-project rejection, it has a lot of things done (the frame is on the back, the frame has been restored and rebuilt with new front suspension parts) and it has a rear pair and a pair of small 350ci. - block crate motors. There's also plenty of new sheet metal around, but like most scrap projects, you'll need to do some additional remedial work. Try to sell the extra coins you don't need and score the kid for free.
It breaks our hearts to hear a story like this, but the seller of this beautiful long bed 1973 Chevy Cheyenne (Phoenix area) bought it and fixed it up for his birthday, only to find he needed $9,000 for a new roof on his house. We have been in this situation, and it is difficult. Your win, because this one (according to the owner) has a powerful 350ci V8, new tires, new battery, new bench seat, new alternator, new radiator, new master cylinder and new rear light lenses. This classic, rolling Chevy truck also comes with a front end rebuild kit and new calipers, which have never been installed. The seller even promises the buyer sexy grandpa vibes for days! continued, we suddenly turned out of New England and headed south, specifically the area of Charlotte, North Carolina. The northeastern cities of New York and Boston kick off our series on finding the best (US-based) diesel deals posted on Craigslist. One of the things that attracts diesel enthusiasts to Craigslist is the wide variety of trucks, cars, engines, tools, and other mechanical devices found within its pages. This is a very cool thing, and, by bartering, bargaining and trying to get the best deal
