Get Credit For Paying Bills - How many bills do you pay each month? How can you be sure to pay them on time? It is common to receive up to twelve maintenance bills per month. Paying your bills on time is the key to improving your credit score. Here's what I do to make sure I pay all my bills on time - every time.
1) Make a list. Make a list of all your bills, the amount due, and the day they are due each month. Deadlines may vary slightly from month to month - for example, a water bill may be due on the 8th

3) Don't rely on a paper invoice or email to remind you to pay. Email may be delayed or email may not arrive in your inbox. Instead, review your list of bills due later in the month and plan to pay each one.
4) Online bill payment. Online banking is ideal for this purpose. You can schedule each of your bills in advance after determining the appropriate amount for each bill. I keep my list of invoices in a spreadsheet and highlight each one in green when paying. Below is an image of what the table looks like. Try my template: open it in Google Sheets, select "File", then "Create and Copy". Monthly invoice document.
5) Automatic payment. For bills that amount to the same amount each month, such as a mortgage or student loan payment, consider setting up automatic monthly payments. Just make sure you have the correct amount in your bank account on the day you schedule your payment.
6) Enter the new invoices. Pay attention to regular expenses - these are the bills that don't get paid every month. For example, auto insurance is usually paid semi-annually, and homeowner's or renter's insurance is usually paid annually. Make a list of these bills and keep them in your calendar. Also, consider putting a monthly bill into your savings account each month so the money is there when it's due.
