“I don't believe this is legal. Obviously once I paid for the printer it was about what I wanted. We strongly urge others using HP printers to stop receiving firmware updates and change their settings to prevent this from happening.”

"It has been a long fight. However, we would like to urge users not to delay the use of third-party cartridges. Many users will still work if they keep the original HP chip.”
He said companies seem to be wary of using recycled or remanufactured cartridges that "extend" firmware updates.
