What is less sustainable is marriage in the state - with a divorce rate of almost 20%, Arkansas is firmly at the top of our list. Not very good prospects for those who are newly married to the natural state.
The potato capital of the United States, Idaho is #2 on our list and has one of the highest divorce rates in the country.
Idaho's location right next to Washington and Oregon — which have low divorce rates of 10 percent and 11 percent, respectively — doesn't seem to be helping the state, which has a divorce rate of 17.6 percent.

Oklahoma; where the weather changes by the hour, where the wind blows across the plains, and where the divorce rate is (apparently) the 3rd highest in the country.

New England's other liberal haven and mobster capital of the world, New Jersey, comes in second with a divorce rate of just 5.34%.
Sorry, we certainly didn't mean to imply that everyone who lives in New Jersey works for the mob. But if one of them does, you can bet their marriage is much happier than Tony Soprano's ever was.

Home to the Salem witch trials and the subsequent exploitation of the state's violent witch trial past, Massachusetts may not be the place with the third lowest divorce rate in the country, and yet that is the world we live in today.
Connecticut, the land of deer, colleges and hedge funds. The state's divorce rate is an almost inexplicable 6.27%, especially considering the abundance of rich, unhappy people who live there.
Inexplicable, that is, until you remember the concept of a prenuptial agreement. The rich will endure all kinds of resentment if it means they stay rich.
Last but not least - because the "worst" New York, as already mentioned - is the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Keystone State.

Pennsylvania just makes the list of the 5 lowest divorce rates at 6.59%. Perhaps Pennsylvania's status as the birthplace of Mister Rogers (of neighborhood fame) just makes it wholesome enough to keep Keystone couples together forever.
That's all for now! Below is a chart of the states ranked in the top 30 by divorce rate, but there's more to see here:.
