Mba Scholarships For Brazilian Students - Seven Ross School of Business MBA students were recently named 2022-23 Ross Community Impact Scholarship recipients for their commitment to investing in clean technology, leading diversity and inclusion efforts and more.
Those students — Larissa Almeida, MBA '23; Zhicheng Cui, MBA '23; Stella Hahn, MBA '23; Joey James, MBA '23; Liz Crane, MBA '23; John Pontillo, MBA/MS '22; and Ziv Zohar, MBA '23 — were selected based on their strong academic records and impact on the MBA community.

The Ross Community Impact Scholarship, based on merit and leadership, is one of several scholarship funding opportunities for MBA students. Scholarship recipients will receive up to $10,000 in funding during the second year of the program.

It is a great honor. For me, this is a very important award and it is very humbling. I am honored to play a role with my colleagues in providing students with opportunities to learn about venture capital and cleantech through Michigan Climate Ventures.
Why did you choose to come to Michigan Ross and what did you enjoy most about the Ross Full-Time MBA program?

I chose Michigan Ross because of the community and the high level of education. At the Ross and Erb Institutes for dual-degree students, I found a community of people learning and supporting each other and aiming to solve challenging, real-world problems through the power of business. Being part of a major research university offers the great benefits of academic discovery at Ross and across the university, as well as an unparalleled social experience with top-notch extracurriculars and athletics.
Being a co-founder of Michigan Climate Ventures allowed me to develop leadership skills in raising and sustaining venture funding, developing programming and recruiting a startup class. The group work nature at Ross Core has also helped me develop leadership skills. Finally, I am the Incoming Erb Student Advisory Board Co-Chair, which affords me the honor and opportunity to further develop my leadership skills and support others as they work to achieve their personal and professional goals.
Co-founder of Michigan Climate Ventures, Ross opened doors for students in the community to learn more about venture capital investing and clean technology. This led to students from other graduate studies departments at the university applying and joining Ross. I am proud to be part of a unique group of students who have provided a platform for students to learn more about the intersection of business and climate change and explore new passions and career paths through MCV.
How do you hope to continue your post-graduation career at Ross and impact business and society?

I hope to find ways to align decarbonisation and economic benefits that can move business towards sustainable climate change mitigation that improves the well-being of all. I hope to inspire a team of people to join me on this journey.

In my application, I wrote about modeling inclusivity, positivity and authenticity, and it was a great honor for Ross to think that I had meaningfully contributed to society by doing so.

For me, what makes Ross stand out the most are the people – and they are my favorite part of the Ross FTMBA program. I had heard all about the supportive community from alumni before I applied, and although I believed in it, I hadn't really internalized it. When I arrived on campus, the genuine kindness and generosity of my classmates was immediately apparent. From the obvious big things like helping me understand the concept of a class, to the seemingly small (and actually big) things like definitely picking up my ticket to an event, Ross never lacked for the help I needed.
I came to Ross after a career in arts management, confident only in my project management skills. While at Ross, I was able to build my confidence in other areas of leadership by experimenting outside my comfort zone and seeking constructive feedback (Sanger Leadership Center's LDRx - Leader Experience).
I'm happy to take a risk on Ross because the community is so supportive. I constantly feel that my classmates are not only patient and encouraging if I stumble and try again, but they are rooting for my success. I couldn't believe it.
I hope my dad's jokes, GIFs, and general silliness made people laugh during recruiting season. I also hope that I have played at least a small role in helping to support, appreciate and celebrate my department throughout the year. Love Forever for Part 2!
Q&a: Michigan Ross Hispanic Business Student Association Members Talk About Latinx Heritage Month, Sharing The Culture, And How To Support Their Community
In my second year at Ross, I took on the role of CDO Peer Coach and LDRx Co-Chair, so I could help continue the environment that I valued so much as a first-year student – that's what makes Ross so special. I also plan to work with the MBA Council's Vice President of Wellness to improve access to mental health care resources at Ross. After graduation, I hope to use the skills I am developing at Ross in the health tech space to make a lasting, positive difference in society.

This scholarship recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a strong positive impact on the MBA community and strong academic achievement. Achieving this means not only that I am where I am, but that I am successful in my MBA. When I found out I got this award, I was on spring break with my fiance and I jumped up and said again: I did it! I can do it!
Having a liberal arts background and returning to school after several years in a corporate environment, the classes were certainly challenging for me. During the first term, working with high-performing teams and struggling with assignments, I experienced imposter syndrome. My parents kept telling me that if I worked for it, it would get better with time. After some office hours, and with the help of my colleagues, I was able to do well academically and most importantly give back to the Ross community.
Mba In Security Technology Transition
I chose to come to juice because of the people. When deciding which school to attend, since I was traveling alone from Brazil, the best place for me was to go to Ann Arbor and have the support of Rogers. And I enjoyed this support very much. I have two examples I'd like to share to illustrate this: First, when I arrived in Ann Arbor, a couple graciously hosted me in their home until my rental began. Secondly, MBA2 helped me prepare for the selection process at my dream company (BCG) by conducting a mock interview, while his wife was also competing in the same company.
The Ross application prompt asks you to write about "when we knew we were different" or "when we made a difference." I like to ask people what their answers are to this question. And every time I hear their responses, I fall in love with Ross all over again because we are different, but we are all alike in one way: we value diversity and community.
100% out of my comfort zone. I know I need to develop skills and try experiences that I have not demonstrated outside of the MBA, but this will contribute to my performance when I return to the corporate environment. To face uncertainty and lead different teams to know more about certain topics than I do. For example, I joined the Auto and Mobility Club even though I had no experience in this industry and I became the co-president of the club. Apart from this, I joined a venture capital fund to experience what it's like to work in a dynamic startup environment and I was the CEO of the Leadership Crisis Challenge competition. For these three challenges, I had butterflies in my stomach, and at first I thought I was not ready for them, but I truly believe that if we have the courage and dedication to try and the humility to learn from everyone we meet. In this process, the challenge is worth it. And so far they have.
