The Investment Company Institute highlighted that there were more than $6.3 trillion in combed asset ETFs in the U.S. in May, up 50% from a year earlier. As the ETF universe continues to expand, we can expect to see more mutual funds switch to ETFs. So today we're launching two new ETFs.
Dimensional U.S. The Equity ETF (NYSE: DFUS ) comes from Dimensional Fund Advisors, which traded $29 billion in mutual funds in June. The switch means four new ETFs will be listed on the NYSE. Dimension may convert two more mutual funds to ETFs before the end of the year, putting the fund manager on track to become one of the largest ETF issuers in the United States.
The new fund tracks the performance of some of the largest US stocks across a number of industries. As a mutual fund, it began trading in September 2001, but as we noted, the switch took place in June this year. The fund currently has about 5.6 billion dollars in assets.
DFUS has a 2,080 hold and is tracking the return of the Russell 3000 index. From the point of view of broken down industries, the IT sector has the largest share with a share of 28.44%, followed by healthcare and consumer non-essential industries with 13.35% and 12.61% respectively.

The share of the ten largest holdings in the fund is approximately 26.5%. Leading names include Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL ), Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT ), Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN ), Facebook (NASDAQ: FB ), Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG ) (NASDAQ: GOOGL ) and Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA ).
DFUS is up about 2% since its inception. However, if you stretch the time frame to the last 10 years, the average annual total return is more than 14%. Potential investors may want to keep the fund on their radar.
The Adaptive Growth Opportunities ETF (NYSE: AGOX ) began trading as an ETF on May 10. It primarily invests in other ETFs. The fund originally started trading as an investment fund in September 2012.
AGOX currently has 35 holding companies. Technology industry topped the list of industries with a share of 25.98 percent. This is followed by financial services (23.50%) and consumption cycles (14.26%). The fund's top ten holdings account for 43% of its $161 million in assets.

Since May, AGOX has risen more than 6%. But the mutual fund has returned around 13.5% annually since its inception.
This could be a particularly interesting choice as it could mean evenly diversifying many retail portfolios. However, interested investors should be wary of high annual fees.
