"I think these days in the car wash industry, those things are kind of necessary," says Wyatt Hutchings, manager of Sparks Surf Thru Express. "Energy is a bit more expensive, water costs a lot, and we're in the desert, so obviously we have to try to conserve water."

The California-based company has three types of car washes and claims it uses less water than a home washing machine. Another focus of Surf Thru Express is the customer service experience.
"I've been to a lot of car washes here and this one is probably one of the best," says Palomino Valley resident Renia.
Employees say winter is typically the busiest time of year for car washes, with the Reno and Carson City locations already surpassing this year's tally. They say that washing your car before a storm is just as important for your vehicle as it is after.
"If your car has sand and salt and then it snows on it, when it slides or melts, it will drag all the sand and dirt with it, so it's important to wash your car before and after it snows," says. Hutchings.

The new business brings more jobs to the area. In total, the three locations will employ approximately 45 people.
