Amazon To Hire Over 100,000 Us Veterans And Military Spouses By 2024
The program matches veterans new to Amazon with employees who have successfully transitioned out of the military. In the first year, veterans can adapt to Amazon's culture, become effective leaders in their roles, and find reliable support.

Amazon Military Skillbridge
Amazon currently employs more than 40,000 veterans and military spouses in businesses including Operations, Sustainability, Alexa and Amazon Web Services (AWS). All permanent employees have access to at least $15 an hour, comprehensive benefits starting on their first day on the job, and programs to help prepare them for higher-paying jobs in robotics, cloud computing and other in-demand fields.
"Amazon is focused on recruiting and developing military talent with training programs specifically designed to help veterans transition into private sector roles," said John Quintas, director of military affairs at Amazon. Amazon pledged in 2016 to join forces with a goal of hiring 25,000 veterans and military spouses by 2021. After far exceeding its original goal, Amazon is using its momentum to make a big commitment to recruiting and hiring.
"Amazon recognizes the diversity of experience and expertise that veterans and military spouses bring and how they strengthen our workforce," said Eric Eversole, director of the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Hiring Our Heroes program. The program aims to help veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses find meaningful employment in communities across America.
Amazon Kicks Off Hiring Bonanza And Jobs Programming At Career Day 2021
Amazon offers several programs to help transitioning service members and military spouses find gainful employment. This includes company-funded skills training in high-demand locations through initiatives such as Amazon's Technical Apprenticeship Program and AWS Restart/Start.
It helps participants learn new technical skills and land high-paying, in-demand jobs. Programs include Career Choice, Amazon's prepaid tuition program for employees who want to work in high-demand careers. The Amazon Technical Academy is a nine-month paid training program that provides non-technical Amazon employees with critical skills to transition and succeed in software engineering careers.
"Amazon is leveling the playing field for veterans and military spouses through our commitment to improving and providing jobs in high-demand occupations," said Eversole, vice president of the US Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to skills training, veterans and military spouses working at Amazon have friendships, mentors, military spouse support, and job benefits. They also have a close-knit [email protected] team, a company-wide community of more than 10,000 veterans, spouses and allies.

Coach Brian W knows all too well the challenges of transitioning from the military to the private sector. Brian said that transitioning from military service to civilian work was not an easy transition for him, so he is eager to help others going through the same process.
Previously, as a hiring manager and site manager at Amazon, Brian was involved in Amazon's end-to-end hiring process. He took phone screens, sat on interview panels and attended numerous information sessions.

These panels are conducted like any other part of the hiring process, but there is usually no specific role for the candidate to interview. If the candidate is shortlisted, the Amazon Warriors recruiting team will begin searching for suitable positions within the company. If the candidate is satisfied with the position and the hiring manager accepts the position, the candidate will be hired for the position without having to go to another panel.
Military veterans and spouses can apply for positions on the Amazon Jobs website like any other candidate and are not required to participate in Amazon Warriors panel activities. Having your military experience on your application and resume will be especially important in the normal hiring process.
