Countries To Visit In Europe - Best travel destinations in Europe My favorite countries in Europe are Greece and Italy. The favorite cities in Europe are London, Paris, Barcelona and Florence. The best honeymoon destinations in Europe are Santorini and the magical cave hotels of Matera. The best beaches in Europe are in Greece. Europe with kids: My favorite places in Europe for families are London with kids, Paris with kids, Barcelona with kids, Amsterdam with kids, Rome with kids and Nexus with kids. Top tip for visiting Europe: arrive and depart from different cities to save time, effort and expense on your steps to the return flight. For example, fly to London, train to Paris, train to Amsterdam, fly home from Amsterdam. The best destinations for first trips are those with a direct flight from home (or as close to direct as possible) and located close to anyone within Europe - reducing costs and travel time. Best time to visit Europe: July and August have great weather, but they are packed all over Europe, so if you have the chance (and families usually don't), June and September are better because the weather remains great and all the Mediterranean beaches are still lovely. For outdoor attractions, April, May, October and early November are pleasant in most of Europe. If you're a museum buff, December, January, February and early March will see incredibly short queues at top attractions in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid, Florence, Milan and Rome. The weather may be miserable, but there's plenty to see inside these big cities. My favorite book about contemporary Europe is Tony Juddt's fantastic book After the War: A History of Europe from 1945. The most magical things to do in Europe are island hopping in the Greek islands and staying at an agriturismo in Tuscany. The 15 best places in Europe
