A fake Craiglist ad showed a three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment on Cloverwood Drive — near the Redstone Arsen 7 gate — available for $650 a month. It is cheaper than many houses.

When they went up to look at the house, they saw a "For Se" Rise Re Estate sign in the yard. The couple tried to reach a man listed as the homeowner on Craigslist, Hennesse said, but the number was disconnected.
When the couple realized they had been duped, the couple wanted Rise - as the real estate listing agent - to return the $2,000.
"I've told the agents that whenever they get a whiff, go to the police and file a complaint," Hennesse said.
Roy Claytor of Crye-Leike Retors in Huntsville estimates that 25 of his business's rental listings have appeared on Craigslist in the past 18 months.
Beware Of Craigslist Rental Scams
The person creating the ad will "clone" much of the publicly available information from vleymls.com, Claytor said, but will offer a lower price in hopes of luring the victim.
If you include the number in the ad, Claytor says, it will explain to the prospective landlord that they can pay less because they don't use a property manager.
"They locked us out and they stood in front of the house and asked for the keys," Claytor said Thursday. They said: 'We rented a house. I said, "That's new to me because I'm a property manager."
"They wanted me to be in charge of the funding, but I told them, 'No, you're screwed,'" Claytor said. "They are very distraught that this has happened to them."
