It's only the first year of service, but Home Depot has extended the service coverage to match the parts warranty for an additional $59.00. By taking part, it will be paid back in 3 years. I'll give it 3 years without worrying about saving up for a new one. Considering you have at least 8 years of experience, it's worth it. If you pick it up, make sure the workers mark the side of the box with the air space; put aside. I had to move some pipes to connect to the inlet and outlet above. It's not a big deal, I did the gluing so I don't have to worry about leaks. Connect the water and fill it halfway before connecting and turning on the gas. Let's get started. the heating time of the first full tank is 40 minutes. I would not hesitate to recommend this unit, because of the 6 year old units and the work done. It's definitely a nice looking unit. I know Home Depot will stand behind it.

By using their credit card, they get 10% off the cost of heating. Installed in 6 hours. The workplace is clean and knowledgeable and respectful. Good service at the store. The heater is quieter than the first one and works well. It will pay for itself in 4 years. Well done Home Depot!!

Contacted Rheem service and was told it would be 2-3 days without hot water until the new air faucet arrived (shipped from the US to Canada and installed). Note: Rheem will list the date the heater was manufactured as the start date of the warranty, unless you email it in the sales receipt. If I have time I will return the heater for another manufacturer because I have installed hundreds of water heaters (mostly John Wood water heaters) and this is the first one I have seen fail. Bad quality control or bad results are hard to tell. Time will tell.

Spent most of the day trying to get hold of Rheem in Canada to get a new part, but the number is on the hot water tank and manual routes to the US. Finally by 4pm the US will ship the part but it will take more than 2 days to arrive because it has to clear customs??? Why couldn't they do it this morning instead of telling us to call Canada Rheems...why didn't Home Depot give us the Canadian number when we went to in the store yesterday? I do not recommend this product because the parts are very hard to get and Home Depot is no help.

Not much changes during installation. I found the instructions to be good if you read them carefully. Plan how you will do it. Get everything you need before you start. List why you are going. Air, water and combustion gases. Everything should be 100% when you finish. The tank looks great and works well. 6 years? Who knows these days. Or is a 9 year old better, just one more expensive tank? It looks like you really should be able to install one of these. Take the time. Hit it
