Just bought; thanks for posting it. Original owner and fairly original in every way - engine, trans, interior, glass, etc. He has accessories for him, including a shroud. Also has original papers - bill of sale etc... Bit of a leap of faith to buy sight unseen but I believe the guy - lives in the gorgeous Lake Tahoe area - is in his 60's. I would drive to Penryn (east of Sacramento and not far from Tahoe); my friend has a shop there -- not a so-called professional shop - more like a car hobby shop. He has good people who specialize in metal and body work and can also turn a wrench on anything automotive related. The truck was purchased in Colfax CA and immediately driven to Tahoe where it remains today. Original stone and not driven much for a few years. Since the chair should have been worn very soon after purchase, it may be in very good condition (or it may not be). Again, I bought this sight unseen so I relied on pictures and a good conversation with what I thought was a trustworthy seller. It has a family history and almost untouched reliability backed by an original like my K10 - that's what matters most to me. That, and hopefully not too many surprises about the rusty part - not a big deal really - a friend of mine in Penryn eats rust for breakfast, simulates factory spot welding and caulking, and worries about the small parts. But the best thing they do is if I love the truck, they love it too and take pride of ownership in their work; again, not a professional shop - just some knowledgeable guys who love working on classics.

There is quite a lot of rust on the bodies. I would imagine you need a new tailgate, new door skins, new roll bars and a lot of welding to remove rust from the wheel wells. The floor may also be rusty.
It would be a bit of an effort for someone. But it doesn't look too bad. I bought a new welding machine, the guy is so tempting.... But if I do, my wife will kill me.
The floor had rotted and the back door was pretty bad. The top is unusable in my opinion. I will check the frame too. If you need detailed pictures send me a PM and I can send them to you. On the plus side, it has some nice options and nice colors. The engine compartment looks original and has a smoker. He doesn't have a Protecto Plate but I think he has a bill of exchange. I think the revised price is actually pretty fair. Like I said, I don't want to take on that kind of project right now - I have my SWB K10 almost done and my Jimmy (who has rust issues) is next.

The price drop isn't bad, but I'm always with you. Too much work unless you are good at it. I have a friend who does body work and welding that can do the job. I'm not going to try myself, I suck at physical work. I have seen some good options out there for 10k that have nowhere near the rust they have. Here in Ca they are common. Tahoe snows every winter and if it was outside it would look like this. Especially when they are salting the road. Last week we were reading an ad in Las Vegas, Nevada. This time we take a look at what its smaller brother to the north has to offer: Reno.
Reno is a neat little town nestled in the High Eastern Sierra Foothills, not far from great outdoor beauty like Lake Tahoe and a seemingly endless geography of mountain peaks. Many of these are accessible via the US Route. 395, which stretches all the way to the Mojave Desert in Southern California.
A hub for gamers and outdoorsmen alike, Reno draws people from all over the US, and despite its small metropolitan area, has some great vehicles for sale on Craigslist. Due to the altitude, and the altitude of the surrounding towns, there are many 4WD and 4WD cars for sale, many of which are in good condition and well maintained. Here are a few we thought were worth showing.

I love the Audi A8/S8 D2, and this seems like a very good example, especially for less than $5,000. The mileage is pretty high, but the owner seems to have taken good care of it. They claim it was the last generation before the A8 badge became more sophisticated and electronics-laden, and it's been a daily driver for 10 years.
The D2 is truly a classic German car in its appearance. I'm sure it's a great highway cruiser, too—especially with a bright 4.2-liter V8 under the hood—and it'll probably be fun in the snow, too, thanks to Quattro all-wheel drive.
Servicing these can be complicated and expensive, so a DIY mentality may be the way to go, and finding replacement exterior and interior parts may be a little difficult. Although, given that it's been lovingly owned, that's probably less of a concern than if someone picked it up in exceptional mechanical condition.
Even though this early 2000s Camry was only front-wheel drive, it was still a solid choice for getting around because it was generally indestructible, had a fuel-efficient 2.2-liter four-cylinder under the hood, and was a roomy sedan. It would make a great hauler and/or family hauler, and it could be cheap to install a set of winter wheels and tires due to what could be common wheel sizes - just look at those foam sides.

Mileage is a bit of a concern, but then again, Toyotas of this vintage are pretty solid and probably very cheap to maintain. Parts availability won't be a problem because you can't throw a rock in any US metropolitan area without breaking someone's windshield. It looks like the owner has done some recent maintenance and both the exterior and interior look very clean for the age and mileage.
Like the Toyota, this SUV is a common fixture throughout the United States and therefore probably not too expensive to maintain. Especially in the case of this example, which appears to be clean and well maintained. The interior is a bit worn but otherwise looks good.
This can serve as a family hauler, a potential work vehicle or a truly versatile daily driver. Plus, it's ready to handle all kinds of terra firma with true 4WD, so it could do a great off-road/off-road mission.
