We have a license for 10 residents. In 2002, the Texas Nursing Home Organization (TORCH) gave us the Home of the Year award. We are located just 2 miles from Northeast Methodist Hospital. We have semi-private and private rooms.

They didn't know she had a visit (even though she labeled it "Mom's Place." (The rest of the establishments knew she was going on a tour.) The woman who looked after the guests answered the door with bare feet. The patients/clients were all in the living room in pajamas and chairs None of them seemed very sensitive It's a residential building The rooms are very small The lady she showed me didn't know the price of the deferral numbers she took my number for Velma to call me, it's been two days and Velma hasn't called, there's no way I'm putting my mom here.
I am very pleased with the service and attention. To be honest, I think caregivers are angels. Sometimes I don't know how they can take care of my loved one when they are not the nicest. I think that here he is given much more attention than in other settings. The relationship between patients and caregivers is much better. The house itself is very good. It's more like being at home than being in a hospital.
The owner of the Woodcrest home, [name removed] is very friendly and kind and cares about her residents, however I noticed a strong smell of hygiene when I entered the front door of the house while wearing a mask. I carefully removed part of the mask to test the scent again without covering it, and the scent was even stronger. I was also worried about the window air conditioner in the room where my loved one had to share a dream with a dementia patient who does not watch TV in the room at night. Also, my loved one would have to walk 2 rooms to get to his bedroom. I was worried that I might disturb the dementia patients because all the tenants seemed to have dementia. In general, I noticed that this home environment and residential area is not suitable for my loved one. I will contact [name removed] to thank him for the tour and to say that while he has a good home and community, I have chosen a different community to meet the needs of my loved one.
Met with [name deleted], visited and saw a private room available. Sad view of the wooden fence. It doesn't suit my mom, and access to the area is through IH 35 and Loop 410, which are constantly busy and have a lot of traffic.

I like that there are only a few residents here, so the guardians get to know their residents very well. They call me if there is a concern or if my mom just needs to hear my voice. There is a very homey and non-clinical feel. I wish they had more activities with the residents.
I visited Woodcrest Home for Senior Citizens myself and was impressed by the friendliness of the owner and his staff. She and I spoke about the care my husband would need and she assured me that he would be fine. My daughter and I returned a few days later and my daughter was also impressed. He thought it was very nice that [REDACTED], the owner, introduced us to each of the tenants by name. This gave it a more personal character and the feeling that the residents were treated as people rather than just bodies. We haven't seen any activity, but my loved one has reached a stage where he can no longer participate with others. He's been living in Woodcrest for over a week now and I'm glad the staff seem to care about all residents. Since this is a small institution, they can spend more time with each person. An added bonus for me is that Woodcrest is less than ten minutes from my house, making it easy to visit every day.
I have no complaints about the guide who helped my father and me during our visit, he was very kind. I was not very impressed with the general facilities and the various things I saw. I felt that everything was very small and cramped in the rooms. I also felt that it was a higher level of care than my father needed. All tenants sat on chairs and very quietly.
Mom is adjusting well to life in Woodcrest. The staff is very attentive, caring, helpful and looks after her. The whole house is clean, including showers and toilets. I didn't get a chance to see the food, but the menu looked good. They encourage residents to socialize, including playing cards. I would recommend this nursing home.

The staff goes out of their way to make sure my loved ones receive great care. All the staff are also very attentive and communicate very well with my loved ones and with me. The staff tries to involve them in activities at a level that is comfortable for them. There are no complaints about the dishes. I highly recommend Woodcrest House for seniors.
My wife has had a stroke and needs help getting around and getting ready for the day. The staff goes out of their way to make her feel comfortable and happy. It was a difficult time for us as technically we are not seniors. Couldn't have asked for a better facility. Also, after reading the previous comments, the showers have been redone over the past 6 months and are now "walking". Thank you Wilma and Woodcrest staff.
Mrs. Wilma and the staff at Woodcrest Home for the Elderly have been such a blessing! They also take BETTER care of my mom in a clean, friendly, upbeat environment where every resident is treated like FAMILY! I would never have been able to provide QUALITY and decent care for my mother the way they did. They did everything to support her strong personality, allowing her to maintain her dignity and freedom to act independently whenever physically possible. In her final days, they made her comfortable and provided her with as much warmth, love, and spiritual support as any family member, and were there to support our FAMILY both physically and emotionally. Thanks to the mention of Paul Hamilton in A Place for Mom, my mother was able to live the last stages of her life comfortably, safely and happily with the love and support she deserved. I sincerely thank Woodcrest and everyone for everything they have provided.
Not as well supported as Dignity Senior Care. Concerned that the shower is not an entry type. I don't think it will be a good decision for mom.
