Best Deals On Macbook Pro - The 13-inch MacBook Pro offers the same M.2 chip as the redesigned MacBook Air, but with additional features like active cooling and Touch Bar.
Announced in June 2022, the MacBook Pro is fairly early in its product cycle. The previous M1-based MacBook Pro was released in November 2020, but before that, Apple updated the MacBook Pro annually. It is unlikely that there will be a new model anytime soon. Given that there haven't been any concrete hints of a new 13-inch MacBook Pro yet, or notable rumors about what an updated model might feature, now is still a good time to buy a MacBook Pro.

If you don't need the extra performance and features of the M2 MacBook Pro, it's worth going for the MacBook M2, save money and get the latest design. Apple refreshed the 13-inch MacBook Pro in June 2022, adding an Apple-designed Arm-based "M2" chip to replace the previous M1 chip. The M2 MacBook Pro is sold alongside the high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max models, and is considered the entry-level model in the MacBook Pro lineup.
The M2 chip is Apple's second System on a Chip for Mac that integrates the CPU, GPU, RAM, and more all at once. The M2 has an 8-core processor with four high-efficiency cores and an integrated GPU with four high-performance cores with up to 10 cores.
Compared to the previous generation M1 chip, the M2 delivers performance and efficiency advancements with an 18% faster CPU, 35% faster GPU and 40% faster Neural Engine. The MacBook Pro supports up to 2TB of SSD storage and 24GB of memory. Battery life is unchanged, with the MacBook Pro lasting up to 20 hours before needing to recharge.
There are no external changes to the MacBook Pro design, and it continues to feature the same aluminum body with a large Force Touch trackpad, speakers on the edge of the keyboard, and a 13.3-inch display with slim black bezels. The MacBook Pro comes in Silver and Space Gray color variants.

The display features 2560 x 1600 resolution, 500 nits brightness, P3 Wide Color support for bright, true-to-life colors, and True Tone that matches the display's color temperature to ambient lighting for a natural viewing experience that's easy on the eyes.
Apple's MacBook Pro M2 includes a 720p FaceTime HD camera, the same as the previous model's camera, with the M2 continuing to offer improved noise reduction, better dynamic range, and better image quality, among other features.
The MacBook Pro M2 features a Magic Keyboard with a refined scissor mechanism that's more reliable than the previous butterfly mechanism, offering up to 1mm of travel for a stable key feel. There's a Touch Bar at the top with touch-based controls and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor that can be used to unlock your Mac, make purchases, and more, with Touch ID protected by a secure enclave.
As the entry-level model, the M2 MacBook Pro features two Thunderbolt 3/USB 4 ports that support external displays up to 6K, while the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models offer three Thunderbolt 4 ports. MacBook Pro works with WiFi 6 or 802.11ax and Bluetooth 5.0. There are stereo speakers with wide stereo sound support, studio-quality microphone, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The M2 MacBook Pro is available at the Apple Store online and in Apple Stores. Its price starts from $1,299. Supplies are limited and some custom configurations don't ship until August.
Several reviews agreed that it might be worth going for the redesigned MacBook Air with the M2 chip. The new MacBook Air starts at a low price of $1,199 and features new design elements like MagSafe charging, a 1080p camera, thinner bezels around the display, physical function keys and more.
However, one notable difference between the notebooks is that the MacBook Air has a fanless design, while the MacBook Pro has an active cooling system that ensures consistent performance for users with more demanding workflows.
WIRED's Brenda Stoyler: If all you need is a cool new laptop, wait for the upcoming MacBook Air. You get a slightly larger, more modern-looking screen, a better webcam, better speakers and faster charging support, all in a lighter overall package (and fun colors!). This MacBook Pro remains an awkward middle child and doesn't bring enough to the table to be worth your time. Philip Tracy of Gizmodo
The Best Macbook Deals Of March 2022
Viewed in a vacuum, the MacBook Pro 13 is a great laptop with excellent performance and unbeatable battery life, putting it ahead of some of its PC rivals. Zoom out and it's hard to see where this model fits into Apple's portfolio. The most direct rival to this entry-level Pro isn't the more premium version, but the MacBook Air. Not only does the Air have a lower starting price, but it has the advantage of a larger display, a better webcam, quad speakers, more interesting color options, a slimmer chassis, and a row of traditional shortcuts.
The Verge's Monica Chin: This would be the perfect device for someone like me — if it weren't for the new MacBook Air. This new MacBook Air is also powered by the M2, coming very soon. From what I can tell from Apple's website, it will be the same price as the M2 MacBook Pro for similar specs in most cases (levels out at $1,499). But unlike the MacBook Pro, the M2 MacBook Air has received a major redesign and includes all sorts of new features — including new colors, a larger display, a 1080p webcam and, most notably, MagSafe — that That's not in this device. Chin has shared several benchmarks comparing the new 13-inch MacBook Pro with the previous model powered by the M1 chip. Geekbench 5 results confirm that the new 13-inch MacBook Pro has 18-20% faster multi-core performance than the previous model.
TheStreet's Jacob Kroll said the new 13-inch MacBook Pro offers even more impressive battery life than the previous model:
Notably, our battery test surpassed Apple's promised 20 hours of video playback. In our testing, the 13-inch MacBook Pro lasted 23 hours and 15 minutes on the 4K playback test. I also set the brightness to 50% and turned off connectivity during playback. That's very impressive, and in day-to-day use, it's hard to beat the MacBook Pro to death. I could easily get the 13-inch MacBook Pro to use it for a full day, getting about 18 hours of full use, and the laptop could sit on standby for a few days.

The MacBook Pro M2 features the same design Apple has used for years, with a similar rectangular shape, aluminum body, and thin bezels around the display. MacBook Pro models come in Silver and Space Grey.
There's a large trackpad, thin hinge, Touch Bar, Apple logo on the back, two USB-C ports and a headphone jack, and speaker grilles on either side of the keyboard. The MacBook Pro is 11.97 inches (30.41 cm) tall, 8.36 inches (21.24 cm) wide, and 0.61 inches (1.56 cm) thick. It weighs three pounds (1.4 kg) and is 0.3 pounds (0.16 kg) heavier than the MacBook Air.
Inside, there's an active cooling process meant to keep the MacBook Pro cooler while the M.2 chip operates for faster performance.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro model features a Retina display with 500 nits brightness, P3 wide color support, and True Tone functionality. The resolution of the display is 2560 x 1600 resolution at 227 pixels per inch.

The True Tone function uses a multi-channel ambient light sensor that is included in the new MacBook Pro models, which is capable of determining both the brightness and color temperature of a room. After detecting white balance, the MacBook Pro is able to adjust both the color and intensity of the display to match the lighting of the room for a more natural, paper-like viewing experience, which also reduces eye fatigue .
P3 Wide Color Support provides a wider color gamut than standard sRBG displays for more vivid and realistic colors.
The MacBook Pro uses the same redesigned Magic Keyboard that was first introduced in the 16-inch MacBook Pro. The Magic Keyboard does away with the butterfly mechanism that Apple had been using since 2015, as it was plagued by problems that caused the keys to deform due to dust and other small particles.
The scissor mechanism on the MacBook Pro keyboard provides 1mm of key travel and a stable key feel, plus it uses an Apple-designed rubber dome that stores more potential energy for more responsive keystrokes.
