The new models have the same design and starting price as their predecessors, but Apple promises better performance and longer battery life with new chips that replace the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips in the previous versions.
The new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Pro starts at $1,999, and the 16-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Pro starts at $2,499. You pay full price at Apple, but you can get one of the new machines for $200 off at Amazon. And you can save even more on older M1 Pro MacBook Pros, where you can save up to $500.
Where To Buy New Apple Macbook Air 13 Inch Deals In 2020 On Amazon
The next newest MacBooks in Apple's lineup are the MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro based on the M2 chip, which were released last summer. The updated MacBook Air is bigger and slightly faster than the previous model. Along with the larger 13.6-inch screen and M2 processor comes a higher price. Gone is the starting price of $999; the new M2 MacBook Air line starts at $1,199. The updated 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 chip starts at $1,299, the same as the previous generation.
You can save $150 on the M2 MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro, and you can spend even less on the previous-generation MacBook Air with the M1 chip and 13.3-inch display for as low as $879.
While Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H currently have the best prices, one of the advantages of paying full price and buying from Apple is that you can customize the machine and add extra RAM or a high-end hard drive possible Models sold by Amazon and other sellers are fixed configurations.

It also ditches the tapered wedge shape of the Air and now looks more like the square, slab-like Pro model. The webcam has also been upgraded to 1080p resolution for better video calling. At Apple, the M2 Air starts at $1,199, which is $200 more than the previous model. It has an M2 processor with an octa-core processor and an octa-core GPU, 8 GB of memory and a 256 GB SSD. The $1,499 entry-level model has an M2 chip with an octa-core processor and 10-core GPU, 8GB of memory, and a 512GB SSD.

The updated model costs $2,499 and doubles the storage to 1TB, while the M2 Pro features a 12-core processor and 19-core GPU. There's also a $3,099 M2 Max model with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. The M2 Max is a 12-core CPU with a 30-core GPU.
Apple claims that the M2 Pro's chip performance is 40% faster in Photoshop image processing than the previous M1 Pro, and that the M2 Max can render effects images in Cinema 4D and color gradation in DaVinci Resolve 30% faster. M1 Max. Apple promises up to 22 hours of battery life, which the company says is the "longest battery life ever on a Mac." The MacBook Pro also adds Wi-Fi 6E over Wi-Fi 6 and HDMI connectivity, which now supports 8K up to 60Hz and 4K displays up to 240Hz.

Even though it's only been out for a few months, the new 14-inch M2 Pro MacBook Pro is on sale at a huge discount on Amazon. The base 512GB model is $100 off, and you can save $200 on the 1TB model.

The tiered model costs $2,699 and doubles the storage to 1TB. There's also a $3,499 M2 Max model with a 12-core processor, 38-core GPU M2 Max processor, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. Now is a good time to buy Apple's largest MacBook Pro. Both the 512GB model and the 1TB model are $200 off on Amazon, the biggest price break we've seen for either model.
Aside from the new M2 chip, the updated 13-inch MacBook Pro is largely unchanged from the previous iteration. It's now the only laptop in Apple's updated lineup to feature the unpopular Touch Bar. It also lacks the new MagSafe charger and offers the same dual Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports for charging and peripherals. The price is the same as the previous series. The $2,499 entry-level model has a more powerful version of the chip with 10 CPUs and 16 GPU cores, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display has a resolution of 3024x1964 pixels.
