Ceu Courses For Physical Therapists - Finding the best physical therapy training is what we like to do here. As a physical therapist, I have taken dozens of PT courses online and in person. Some good or some bad.
So before you spend a fortune on continuing education, let's plan to increase your CEUs both financially and clinically.
Ceu Courses For Physical Therapists
“No…I don't care how you get your CEUs up Tim. I just want to jump down to the top CEU providers you recommend. ”How Do I Find CEU Physical Therapy Courses.
Physical Therapy Ceu Courses
Some people know I'm a financial advisor turned PT and like to talk numbers (maybe more than back pain... Yeah, I mean it's right some days).
So investing financially in continuing education is something I rank high on my consideration list!
There is no shortage of ongoing treatment courses out there! So before you spend $100 or even $1,000+ on a course, crunch the numbers.
Since continuing education is a requirement for almost every state, it's an expense you'll have to cover every year.

I personally set aside about $1,000 every two years for professional development because my Michigan license requires 24 new CEUs every two years.
I don't always spend a lot (especially when I find a way to finish my CEUs for $8 per CEU), but from a budget standpoint I save $1,000 every two years for further study.
Courses that lead to advanced certification or specific training end up in this category. Consider a certificate that adds a whole new skill to your suite:
These types of certifications can lead to new job opportunities or increased earning potential at your clinic. But they may not lead to a salary increase unless you can show that there is an increase in income generated by your new skills.
The Best 4 Online Physical Therapy Continuing Education Courses
One of the best examples I have seen in my own clinic is with a pelvic floor specialist. One of my colleagues recently completed an advanced course focusing on pelvic floor health care and referrals increased as more and more patient success stories brought them back to the doctor. Not all courses are created equal.
I have gone to great seminars as well as some bad ones. The same goes for online education.
Below you will find some PT courses we would like to recommend for further study. It's because they check all three boxes (professional clinical finance).
I have a hard time recommending courses worth $1,500 or more for a single course. It is not difficult to find 'advanced' certification courses in this price range. But before you pull the trigger, you should consider the financial impact it can have. The $1,500 course enabled me to continue my studies in just one week! I'm not saying you shouldn't spend money on a $1,500 course, but if you think about it, that course further complements the next two points.
Physical Therapy Continuing Education: Pt Ceu Requirements By State
I wouldn't be happy to do a burn management course, even though it's free, it's not interesting to me. I personally feel that it is very important to continue the education and training that is interesting to you. Don't just attend cheap courses that don't interest the clinic. You are wasting your time and money simply "checking the box" for your medical education needs.
Not all CE courses are required to access new job opportunities. But you should be strategic about how you spend your time and money when it comes to advancing your career. We have a lot of time to spend on courses, so consider where you want to continue your therapy career in the next 3 or 5 years.
We have now covered some of the main considerations I made before registering for the course, see some tips that fit the criteria.
You probably know that MedBridge is one of the largest online education providers. But did you know that they offer live, on-demand online workshops or 'live workshops' for most states? I personally use MedBridge to meet more than half of my CEUs each year.
Recap: Pelvic Floor & More Continuing Education Course
MedBridge not only meets the financial criteria I described above, but they have over 1,600 courses covering all interests. As for career development, you can enroll in any of their specialized certification programs for free!
In particular, I paid for the super project ($275) because I really like their HEP builders and use them every day in the clinic.
Summit Education is known as a live education course for practitioners. But you can also take an online course if one of the 300+ courses seems interesting to you. While Summit Education doesn't have the largest library of CEUs online, they do have many interesting live courses across the country.
You can choose to pay for the live course 'la carte' or simply pay for the All Access project, which gives you access to any CE course and video course library.
How To Integrate Nutrition In Pt Practice
Let's say you live in Michigan, which requires 24 CEUs every two years. Half can be online and half must be "live" or "live".
Why both? First, spending $500 every other year to meet all your continuing education needs is great. (I'm budgeting up to $1,000, so saving $500 goes away!)
Personally, I think MedBridge's online courses are really great over the Summit Education options, but the direct education options through Summit Education meet the "direct" requirements for each state.
If you want to complete some online courses and don't mind choosing a limited course at a low price, check out PhysicalTherapy.com. You can take any of their 20 courses for just $99 a year. They now have approximately 400 courses for physical therapists and provide CEUs for OTs, SLPs and Audiologists. You can also attend live workshops that allow you to interact with expert presenters in live question and answer sessions, completing the "live" component for many state CEU requirements.
South Carolina Physical Therapy Continuing Education License Renewal Package: 30 Hours
With names like ContinuingEducation.com, it's hard to confuse what this company does. 🙂 I will consider this continuing education provider a leader when it comes to 'la carte' CEUs. Their library of online continuing education courses covers a wide range of professionals (not just PTs) so you'll find courses for Aud, SLP, Nursing, Pharmacy, Pharmacist and more. You can take free courses to see if you like this format. Continuing courses of various physical therapies range from $19 to $49 per session (1-3 CEUs).
The best live training course I attended was through the Institute of Clinical Excellence. Jeff Moore develops a team of quality subject matter experts who make live sessions engaging, informative and worth your investment. You can expect to pay around $600 for a weekend live course (16 CEUs). By integrating CEU courses directly through ICE as well as through a MedBridge membership, you can complete all of your CEUs for less than $1,000 and really feel like you're learning something worthwhile.
A quick search for live workshops will run you through hundreds of options. Personally, I recommend starting with a reputable company by looking for the course options available in your area.
One of the biggest considerations for live sessions is the cost of travel and work time to attend the course. Before you withdraw money within 8 hours of the PTO and spend two nights in a hotel, be sure to consider any of the options pre-registered online. For serious courses, such as excellent courses through the Institute of Clinical Excellence, try to find local courses to save as much money as possible along the way.

What about APTA Learning Center? As an APTA member, you have access to the APTA Learning Center. While you should definitely check out the courses available, I found this forum a bit confusing and not easy to use. Personally, I think the other continuing education on this page does a better job than APTA.
