Wood earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from C in 1991, where she worked as a student athletic trainer with athletes in all sports, specializing in volleyball, soccer and track. After graduation, she worked as a fitness instructor at the Golden Door Spa on Cunard cruise ships. Two years later, he graduated from Western University of Health Sciences with a degree in Physical Therapy (MPT). He also holds an MBA from the University of Southern California (C). He has worked with many celebrities and professional athletes; While at HealthSouth in Arizona, he was a physical therapist for the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Coyotes, Phoenix Mercury and Arizona Rattlers. In 2010, she was selected as the physiotherapist for the EAS Unstoppable Tour, where her responsibilities included keeping elite athlete Sam Tickle in tip-top shape as he completed his 30-day, 30-game, 30-city tour.
Wood began her Pilates studies with Rael Issakowitz in 2001 and has attended many of Issakowitz's advanced courses, including the prestigious Mentor and Master programs. He has developed and teaches two advanced education courses for BASI Pilates: Injuries and Pathology (for Pilates teachers) and Pilates: Integration into Therapeutic Practice (for rehabilitation professionals). Since 2010 he has been offering those classes in addition to giving other workshops and lectures at Pilates conferences around the world.
Wood was featured in Pilates Style magazine's Ask the Expert column and created and modeled an article titled "Sign Up for (Injury) Rehab." He also wrote an article on Integrating Pilates into Physical Therapy Training for Advances for Physical Therapists.
