Buying And Reselling On Ebay - Recently we've had some negative comments (2 in total) on blogs and social media, and while we know it's for the purpose of putting yourself out there on the internet, we want to address the question. Both views are basically saying that we are greedy to make money for things that people want. I'm not going to link to them, but we leave a comment on our blog and Facebook page because we think we'll address it: Are buying and reselling taking advantage of people?
We were a bit surprised by this comment because first of all, we pride ourselves on our integrity. We want to live a life we are proud of and live a good life
Buying And Reselling On Ebay
Impact on our children. And secondly, we don't feel like we're taking advantage of people when they buy from us. We don't feel like the grocery store is taking advantage of us by making money off of our need to eat. Melissa does not feel that Target is taking advantage of us because they make money off our children's clothes. I don't feel like Amazon Prime
How To Sell On Ebay? A Guide To Setup Your Ecommerce Store
Take advantage of me because I order parts or things there almost every other day. (Well, maybe I think they're taking a little advantage of my buying habits.) 🙂 But, you get the point. Business is driven by solving problems and meeting needs.
The particular item that one woman talked about was a prosthetic leg. She felt I was taking advantage of someone who needed a leg up. But, in reality, if we didn't sell the customer a prosthetic leg for $250, he would have to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars more to get a new one. It saved money because I spent my Saturday morning at the flea market. Also, if I hadn't bought the leg to sell, it would still be sitting at the bottom of the trash can at the flea market. The seller I bought it from could even throw it in the trash because he seemed scared and wanted to leave it.
I want my customers to be happy with their purchase. They get things at a lower price than they can buy in the store so saving money is a big plus for them. Another advantage for some of my customers is that they have not been able to find the item anywhere else. I came across some unique things and wanted someone special who was looking for them. (How many people are looking for a deal on prosthetic legs on eBay?) Another thing is that no one is forcing anyone to buy anything from me. It's not like we sell the last cup of water in the house and charge $1 million dollars for it.
I would love to be able to hunt down property and only give it to those who need it, but the reality is we have a mortgage to pay and three small children to feed as well. Maybe one day it will all be for fun and I can post things for free, but for now, our family depends on our eBay sales. Buying and selling things to pay our bills.
Ultimate List Of Brands That Sell On Ebay
I would also like to address another part of this question. Does buying something at a low price benefit the person I'm buying it from?
I buy from a good variety of people, but I buy a lot from vendors at the flea market. Since I've been going to the same flea market for a few years now, I already know some of the vendors I buy from. Many of them know that I sell on eBay and will even tell me what items are for sale on eBay so I can buy them. Even if they don't know I'm looking for a flip, I don't feel bad buying from them because they make me money, and they usually do repeat business. Many of these sellers buy large boxes of items from the Salvation Army at their auctions or buy old storage units and sell everything at the flea market for a profit. So, even if I'm paying less than the value of an item, they still make their profit on me - and I want them too! I help them stay in business and they help me stay in business.
I also buy from people I find on Craigslist, Offer Up, eBay, and Facebook. These people usually want to get rid of things to clean the house and/or make extra money. I also don't feel like buying from them because they want to sell. If they wanted to, they could take the time to find stuff, put some elbow grease into it, and post it in the best place to make the most money, but most people don't ask to take the time. and just want to sell and go.
Everyone involved benefits from this buying and selling transaction, not just me. The people I buy from are trying to sell their stuff and make some money. I gave them their money and took the thing out of their hand. I take time to clean up if needed, take good pictures, and post them to all potential buyers. My buyers are looking for a great deal or something special and I can provide them with both. This is a win-win situation.
Using Ebay To Flip And Sell An Offer Up Item From $40 Into $1,000
I do my buying and selling honestly. I negotiate the price on both ends, but it's not fair. And if the buyer or seller wants the price to be higher or lower, no one is forcing them to sell to me or buy from me. I will also disclose everything I know about an item before it is sold, including any defects or problems with the item that I know of. I never tried to blame anyone. It's definitely not my style, and if it was, I wouldn't be able to maintain a good standing with eBay if I did.
I don't think anyone thinks that Mike and Frank from American Pickers take advantage of people when they are picking through items. They do the same thing I do: find good things to buy from people on markets and sell to people who are looking for those things. We all offer services to people who are looking for a good deal. I do not believe that buying and selling again benefits all parties involved.
