New River Marine Corps Air Station (ICAO: KNCA, FAA LID: NCA) is a United States Marine Corps helicopter and tiltrotor base in Jacksonville, North Carolina, in the eastern part of the state. In 1972, the airport was named McCutcheon Field in honor of General Keith B. McCutcheon, one of the fathers of Marine helicopter flight.

Originally, the base was a 29-acre, common tobacco farm that was purchased for $64,502 in 1941. Camp Lejeune officials looked at the site to make an existing airfield to house aircraft to support air operations. Captain Barnett Robinson, a member of the 71st Marine Glider Group, during his research found that the fields would meet the needs of the Marine Corps.

The base was transferred to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and received its first squadron, VMSB-331, from Cherry Point Marine Air Station on March 9, 1943. On June 1, VMSB-331 split in half to form VMSB-332. However, both teams were soon transferred to Bog Field. From mid-1943 to August 1944, Marine bomber squadrons VMB-433, VMB-443 and VMB-612 were deployed here, operating PBJ Mitchell bombers. On April 26, 1944, the area around New River and Peterfield Point, named after the first owner of the farm that was purchased by the government, began operating as the Marine Corps' Camp Lejeune Auxiliary Airfield. This separated the airfield from Camp Lejeune and marked its birth as a separate Marine Corps base. Over the next several years, Marines, pilots, and airmen trained at the King Air Hangar, the station's first hangar, which was relocated from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot on Parris Island, South Carolina.
As World War II ended, MCAAF Camp Lejeune was closed and restored as MCAS Cherry Point airfield. However, this was short-lived, as in 1951 the site was re-established as Marine Corps Air Station Peterfield Point, Camp Lejeune. A year later, the name was changed again, this time to Marine Corps Air Station New River. In July 1954, the first Marine Corps aviation group, MAG-26, arrived from MCAS Cherry Point.

The area underwent another major name change in 1968 when it was reassigned as Marine Corps Air Station (Helicopter) New River, reflecting its growth from a small training facility to a major airfield.

In January 2022, HMH-461 became the first active Marine unit to replace the CH-53E Super Stallion and CH-53K King Stallion.
