Aaa Insurance International Drivers License - Traveling all over the world is one of the best objects for many people. If you're planning to drive abroad soon, you may want to consider getting an International Driving Permit (IDP) before you set off on the open road. Getting an international driver's license, also known as an "international driver's license" or "international driver's license", is easier than you think.
An international driver's license allows you to drive in another country and shows the authorities that you are legally allowed to drive in your home country. This means you must have a valid state-issued driver's license to get one. IDPs are also recognized by many major car rental companies around the world.

Do You Need To Get An International Driving Permit?
Note that in the United States, International Driver's Permits are issued by only two organizations: the American Automobile Association (AAA) and the American Automobile Touring Alliance (AATA).
If you're not a member of the AAA, don't worry. AAA issues international driver's licenses to the public. You can apply for an IDP by mail or in person at any full-service AAA branch. Everything you need is here:
If you plan to apply through the main site, be sure to send your application, fee, and a copy of your driver's license (front and back) to a full-service AAA branch office. Make sure you allow 10-15 days for delivery.
No, an International Driving Permit does not cover all countries, so be sure to do some research before planning your trip. However, this definition is valid in more than 180 countries. The best part? It will translate your cookies into 10 different languages.
Do You Need An International Driver's License In Italy?
Note that US driver's licenses are considered valid by Canada and Mexico for visitors on short-stay sightseeing trips, so you don't need an IDP.
If you're over 18 and want more peace of mind when driving internationally, it's worth getting an international driver's license. It is also a quick and easy process. You should always check the driving requirements and laws of the countries you are traveling to by car. That way, you'll know what's required if local authorities pull you over. An International Driver's License is a document that translates your driver's license into 11 languages and is used with your original driver's license. It is recognized in 150 countries. In practice, you pay $20 for a document that translates the type of vehicle your license is valid for. In my case this means motorcycles (Class A) and vehicles less than 7,700lb (Class B). And it is only valid for 1 year.
The short version is, unofficially, you may never need a driver's license if you have a US driver's license, which in my experience is generally acceptable almost anywhere. I've read that Japan is strict about requesting this, and I'll share my experience in Poland below.
Longer version: you should check with your car rental company before you go. Last year I was told for the first time that I needed to have an international driver's license to rent a car. I've rented a car in countries on 6 continents and it hasn't come across even once. I've heard of it but never researched it as I've rented cars all over the world.

Then... I rented a car from Sixt in Poland. I drove a Sixt car in Poland but received it in Germany and did not need an international driver's license. Sixt Poland was willing to rent the car to me as a service without international drivers, but in the meantime wanted me to buy their insurance which was more than the daily cost of the car. As always, I wanted to use my JPMorgan Reserve or Chase Sapphire Reserve cards, which already provide free primary car rental insurance.
You can submit your request or visit an AAA office to get one. Pay attention to the tips below, otherwise you will have to redo the application as I did. Since I don't have a car, I submitted my application which took less than 2 weeks from the day I gave the correct information.
Summary: My application was returned due to the following errors: a) the back side of the photos was not signed, b) the payment was declined because my check's address was different from my driver's license, and c) even though I know the "" "if known" address.
What's this? There are 2 different driver's licenses. You should check the country list to choose the right one. Inter-American Driver's Permit is mainly for South America. If you're going anywhere else, you'll probably want an International Driving Permit. That's why I was told that you need to fill in the "Foreign Address (if known)" field so they can make sure you got it right. This can be improved by changing the field to "Foreign address or countries (required)".

Some countries may require you to have an international driver's license/permit, while other countries may charge extra if you do not have a driver's license. I knew that car rental companies often play the game of imposing expensive car insurance on you. They know that credit cards often pay the rent, but sometimes they are surprised as if they were hearing it for the first time. "Credit cards are often secondary..." yes, I'll cut you off here. You're right, but my card is primary. Anyway, if you only have secondary fuse and no fuse, it's primary so it doesn't matter what they say. After a while you get used to them singing and dancing.
You can find support for this in Mastercard's benefits guide: "If you don't have other insurance or your insurance doesn't cover you in a non-US territory or country, coverage is considered primary coverage. This article isn't about insurance, but make sure you: get or buy liability insurance Get it - credit card doesn't cover it.
I thought, "What kind of crap is Sixt trying to do". They couldn't move. No international driver's license, then you have to buy the insurance or there is no car. I didn't have much choice at the time, and although it cost more than double my rent, I accepted. I suspect they did because I rented a BMW 3 series and it only costs $200 a week. This wouldn't have happened if I had a cheaper car.
I asked Sixt customer service what the policy was and whether I could use my own insurance. Yes, they said via email. When I went back and asked why I wasn't allowed to use my own insurance, they contacted the local office and then repeated the rules to me. If I had an international driver's license, I could use my own insurance. They "done me a favor" by renting letters to me even though I don't have an international driver's license. Ok, I asked for a written policy document. They repeatedly forwarded me the email of a local employee in Poland saying it was mandatory, but they were unable to produce anything official or on the website.

I kept asking this. And even though I said every time I wanted an official policy document, not a "policy" created according to the pleasure of an employee standing in front of me, they kept sending the same thing. If the employee told me I have to pay him $1000, does that make it a policy? It was forwarded to the corporate office and they never produced an official policy. Thanks Sixt for confirming that I was surprised (they never acknowledged this, instead they said they were investigating). It was almost a year ago and still no policy.
Languages are English, French, Italian, Swedish, German, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, Japanese, Russian and Portuguese. Therefore, they can request it even if it is not translated into the language of the country you are visiting (like Polish in my example).
