Goodwill Stores Las Vegas Nevada - If you've been following me for a while, you already know my obsession with the Goodwill Clearance Center (aka The Bins). Smaller. I think if you combined the two places, they still wouldn't be as big as Phoenix Bins. A smaller location means less inventory and less junk, so be prepared for that. So customers have to leave their carts outside the store. As someone who is constantly in a crowded store facing carts approaching from the street, a breath of fresh air.
I often hear shoppers complain about the Phoenix Goodwill clearance center. However, I must say, the number of rotations in one day is impressive, especially compared to the Goodwill Clearance Center in Las Vegas. Since the rotation isn't very frequent, I like to go through each case carefully so I don't miss anything important.

Phoenix Goodwill Clearance Center has not taken out the shoe cabinet in months. A bummer, but something I've learned not to overlook. This trip to Las Vegas was my second purchase of their Goodwill case and the shoe selection did not disappoint. Of course, there are some useless pairs in the mix, but if you insist on finding the good ones, it's totally worth it.
If you're a Phoenix litter box shopper, you're used to paying $1.39 a pound every time you buy one. Receive a small Las Vegas $1.89 per pound sticker with any purchase under 25 lbs. Once you weigh over 25 lbs, the price drops to $1.29. In my opinion, it's definitely worth buying at least 25 lbs. 60 cents a pound is probably a long way. In 2020, thousands of Las Vegas residents stuck at home have one thought: They'll donate their old T-shirts, shoes, dinnerware, computers and bric-a-brac to charities in Southern Nevada .
Among the valley's thrift stores, donation centers and processing facilities, the coronavirus pandemic presents new challenges: How can nonprofits continue to help job seekers amid massive donations and weeks of retail closures?
From long lines to donations of clean clothes and household items to new virtual career services and programs, the pandemic is driving long-desired changes at nonprofits, known as thrift stores. Leaders hope the organization's increased visibility during the pandemic will drive more job seekers to their career center and online services.
The nearly 60 days of in-store closures in spring 2020 posed many challenges for the organization. The retail business accounted for about $28.2 million of the $32.4 million in 2020 revenue, the financial statements show.

"At Goodwill, we rely on thrift stores," says CEO Rick Neal. "Retail — turn it off and we feel it right away, it's like turning off the air."
The nonprofit said the early closure resulted in Goodwill laying off 322 employees, most of whom worked in retail. Employees had the right of first refusal to reopen stores, and about 86% returned. The organization received a $3.28 million loan through the Paycheck Protection Program, records show.
But the shutdown has forced Goodwill to focus on what it has long wanted to do, Neal said. It's putting more emphasis on e-commerce auction sites, selling on Amazon and eBay, and moving career services that don't require face-to-face contact into the digital space.
Last year's financial statements showed e-commerce revenue growing from about $1.5 million in 2019 to nearly $2 million in 2020.

When the retail locations reopened, they were welcomed by donors, who recently spent weeks cleaning their homes during the lockdown, said board chairman Brian Dziminski. According to the annual report, Goodwill received 811,455 community donations of used items in 2020, up from 793,997 in 2019.
“Anything you can think of that someone has in their home ends up being kind,” Dziminski said. “One of the good things about (the pandemic) is the number of people who were forced to come home and do spring cleaning at the time, Marie Kondo, ‘What do I need? What makes me feel? What do I have "released?" "We've had a nice uptick in donations during that time.
The temporary closure comes after Goodwill of Southern Nevada faced challenges. Just a year after the organization emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the pandemic forced its retail operations to close for nearly two months.
The group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2017, when aggressive expansion, numerous bond sales and delays in rent payments led the group to seek bankruptcy protection.

Lenders waived unpaid interest accrued during the August 2017 to January 2019 bankruptcy and credited it to the bond principal, according to the organization's 2020 and 2019 financial statements.
Dziminski said Goodwill used the bankruptcy to restructure, changing who and how it does its retail business.
