CAPE GIRARD, Mo. (February 26, 2013) - Plaza Tire Service Inc. increased its store count to 56 with the acquisition of five Ewers Tire and Service locations.
Plaza completed the sale on Feb. 25, which includes five stores, all located in mid-Missouri. Plaza said it has three stores in Rolla, D.C., and Fulton, Mo. There are one to three Columbia stores, as well as two locations in the Jefferson City tire market and one store in the Mexico market.
Ewers Tire & Service was owned by the Ewers family. Scott and Ken Ewers, the only family members active in the business, will remain at the Plaza. The dealership had about 25 Ewers employees at the time of the deal, and all store managers, service and sales staff were asked to transition to the new ownership, a spokeswoman said.

Plaza declined to disclose the purchase price. "We have acquired real estate in four of the five stores, one store is leased from a third party," said the spokeswoman.
Starting today, the stores will be repainted like all other Plaza Tire Service stores, he said, and "many of the stores will undergo a complete facelift in the near future."
All five Ewers stores have between five and eight service areas and are similar in size to other Plaza locations. He added that temporary signs were installed on February 25 and permanent signs will be installed in the coming weeks.
