Average Monthly Temperature In Quito Ecuador - The weather can make or break a holiday, so it's a smart move to anticipate it. Unlike the four seasons in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, there are only two seasons in Quito and the Andes: the rainy season and the dry season. At the same time, the weather in Quito can change drastically in one day; It's all part of the adventure!
The climate in Quito is often referred to as Eternal Spring. Throughout the year, this Andean city, with its cool morning air and generally lush vegetation, reminds us of the last days of spring in spring countries.
Average Monthly Temperature In Quito Ecuador
As for the spring weather, on any given day in Quito, don't be surprised if you burn while exploring the old town in the morning, and get completely wet in the afternoon!

The average annual temperature in Quito does not vary much. However, what can change is the amount of rain. Quito's weather is easy to adapt to and usually doesn't interfere with daily plans and activities, especially if you don't visit during the dry season or heavy rains.
The average daytime temperature in Quito is 22 Celsius (72 Fahrenheit) and the average night temperature is 9.5 Celsius (49F).
Note that the humidity is relatively low, so even on hot days it doesn't feel as harsh as in tropical areas.
The relatively dry climate is due to Quito's altitude, which is 2,850 meters (9,350 ft) above sea level. However, altitude is also a factor in sudden showers, as well as high UV radiation (more on this later in this article).
Sunrise And Sunset Times In Quito
Quito's rainy season occurs twice a year: in March/April and from October to December.
The rainiest month is usually April. In fact, Ecuadorians often use the phrase abril, aguas mil, which roughly translates to "April, a thousand showers."
The driest months in Quito are from June to September and then from January to March. These months, especially from June to August, will be very windy. The dry season is a good time to climb many nearby peaks depending on their location.
Remember to carry a rain cover with you throughout the rainy season, but if you forget this one day, you'll probably find a street vendor hand-selling $2 umbrellas as soon as the first drops start to fall!
Heavy Rainfall And Temperature Proyections In A Climate Change Scenario Over Quito, Ecuador
There really is no wrong time to visit Keaton. As mentioned earlier, the temperature does not change much and it is usually sunny.
However, to get the most out of your days, try to avoid the rainiest months like April and October. In fact, the months after them like June and November/December are very beautiful because everything is lush because of the rains. There may still be a good chance of rain, so if you prefer to play it safe, come in the dry season.
If you're missing the long, dark winters, Quito's sunshine is guaranteed. In fact, Quito probably has more sunny days than anywhere else. If that's what you're looking for, consider visiting Quito between December and February.
Because Quito is on the equator, not only do we lose the four seasons like other parts of the world, we also have consistent sunrise and sunset times. Expect the sun to rise at 6:20 am and set at 6:30 pm every day of the year. This provides 12.5 hours of constant daylight hours throughout the year.
Best Time To Go To Quito
Keep in mind that nights in Quito are chilly due to the altitude and you'll need a warm sweater by 6:30pm as the sun sets. This also affects the local nightlife, which is less active compared to places with warmer nighttime weather.
The UV in Quito deserves its own section on this blog! Most travelers to Ecuador don't realize how powerful the sun is until it's too late.
Along with Peru and Colombia, Ecuador receives the highest amount of UV radiation on Earth. It's really off the charts, and overexposure can lead to severe sunburns, sunstroke, and especially in the long run, skin cancer. Yes.
While schools in some countries are canceled due to snow days, schools in Quito have been known to cancel classes due to UV rays! If you are traveling with children, know how much time they spend in direct sunlight.
Seasonal Forecasts Offer Economic Benefit For Hydrological Decision Making In Semi Arid Regions
As a general rule, avoid full sun exposure between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, and be sure to wear a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen during these hours, as well as before and after sunny periods.
Unfortunately, this is usually only taken seriously after the first sunburn, so if you spend a lot of time in the sun during your first days in Quito, bring some aloe vera cream to soothe the pain!
Ecuador is a small but diverse country made up of 4 regions: the coast, the Andes, the Amazon and the Galapagos. The weather in this blog only covers Quito, and you'll find that temperatures, humidity, and seasons vary greatly from region to region.

Ten days in the country offers the best of what this country has to offer, while Ecuador doubles down on nature's most extreme and diverse experiences… 5 days and 10 days of taking us up and down Ecuador's rollercoaster. The joy is double. So relax and enjoy
It is clear that five days in Ecuador is not enough to get to know the country well, but there is one thing that five days in Ecuador can do. And it gives you a glimpse of its amazing diversity and different "worlds". 5 days in Ecuador for this experience alone is an exciting adventure that few people get to do.
Tourism and travel have evolved over the years and we can say that these days people are more and more interested in exploring travel where they can control every last part of it. We are far from the outdated image of 1970s tourists walking around with cameras. First, it was a place we were not. I don't know anyone who has been to Ecuador so I guess that's not a good reason. This is a common reason. And many people pass through Ecuador on their way to the Galapagos Islands. But the reasons are improving.
Second, American Airlines was selling first/business class seats from many US destinations for $800 in Quito. It's really cheap for the higher miles flown (often called frequent flyer miles). I am a fool for such a challenge.
Determining The Microbial And Chemical Contamination In Ecuador's Main Rivers
The average high temperature in Quito in July is in the high 60s! In fact, it doesn't change much throughout the year. Rainfall is changing.
July and August are the months I hate. Everyone has summer holidays, so there are many people everywhere. And the air smells hot. This double whammy usually gives me temporary agoraphobia, sending me to sleep until Labor Day. I rarely go anywhere and just sit on my hands and wait for winter to end.
But Quito!!!? It was cold even in July. Sign me up! I thought it was because the year's moderate temperatures were right on the equator and probably at a lower altitude. Yes, a "little high" like 9,300 feet above sea level! The plane is only internally pressurized at 6,000 feet to 8,000 feet, so they have to bleed our plane after landing at Quito. I don't know about you, but over the years, I've become addicted to oxygen. But wait, this is an adventure, and the tickets have already been purchased.
When looking at the prices of regular airline flights, the worse the schedule, the cheaper the price. This is certainly the American (airline) way. Comfortable flights are expensive, uncomfortable flights are cheap. A common route for American Airlines from Los Angeles to Quito is via Miami, and with the cheapest ticket, we arrive in Miami late at night and don't fly to Quito until the next morning. He drank and at first glance it seemed like a total compromise because Jerry and I are too soft (ie smart) to purposely sleep at the airport.
Ecuador: Where And When Should You Swim? Sea Temperature By Month
But then, after playing around with the available flights and looking at the schedule, I got a surprise. If I add the overnight difference between arriving in Miami and departing to Quito, the total cheap price is about the same. America's pricing algorithm finds such a bad schedule with overnight stops undesirable and charges accordingly. So with this in mind I was able to plan a very interesting itinerary.
