Teachers Day Activities For Preschoolers - With the first day of school quickly approaching, here are 20+ ideas for meeting the teacher.
Today is also the 31st day of Kindergarten. Today I'm sharing 20+ ideas for meeting your teacher during the school day, time or whatever. Our school has a "meet the teacher day" on the Friday before the first day of school. All parents and students are encouraged to visit prospective classrooms to "meet" new teachers and explore new classrooms. It's special to me. Because I teach kindergarten, and all my students are "new" to this school, and I will be their first teacher. Our Meet the Teacher is informal, like a preschool parent orientation or open house. Therefore, this is a great opportunity for me to create a joyful, loving and welcoming environment for newborns and families. Parents often bring things to see the teacher. So I always have a branded container to put these things. Here's an example from Tunstall's Teaching Tidbits. Visit his blog for more information.

This is a super cute idea from the Teacher Idea Factory. Have students make beautiful art magnets, and parents always have a special place to get creative.
And last but not least, a free gift for you!! I know your "Meet the Teacher" day is exciting, but you'll have lots of parents talking, asking questions, and "Let's Meet" each little kindergartner, so it can be a little confusing. I loved the idea of this little treasure hunt for parents and students on Meet the Teacher Day. For me, this involves two fundamentals. This allows students to familiarize themselves with their new room and their parents, eliminating awkward waiting times and sharing time between families. We've created this as a place to meet new kindergarteners, get to know each other, and give parents a chance to see what's going on in the classroom. Each kindergartener participates in a treasure hunt and receives a small reward from me. You can download your copy here.
