Many local grocery stores have great deals on their turkeys, but you really need to look carefully at the retail price claims.
Some grocery stores give away FREE turkeys if you spend a certain amount. You can save monthly grocery purchases as well as holiday purchases to meet this minimum.
You will want to choose a turkey that weighs one pound per adult. Or two pounds per adult, if you have big eaters or want leftovers.
I would manage to fill the tub with cold water the night before and check on the bird in the middle of the night every time I got up to use the bathroom.

Most directions for roasting a turkey cook it to 325° F. So I cook my birds now unless I slow roast them.
But Reynolds oven bags have a cooking time chart for 350° F. You can check their chart if you want to cook your turkey at 350° F. I think it only takes about 30 to 45 minutes faster at 350° F .
