The largest, most important listing is Duffy Ranch at 436 Steele Road, with 327 acres of land and a 15-acre island on the Rogue River.
The ranch includes a 1950s cottage-style home with a river rock fireplace and thick pine walls under an exposed beam ceiling, and a covered sunroom that overlooks the water.
"They just don't make them like this anymore," said Portland interior designer Max Humphrey, who was asked to see the photos by The Oregonian/Real Estate.
"You can see the authenticity between the walls; it's more than a home — it's a whole lifestyle," said Humphrey, whose latest book, "The Lodge: An Inside Tour of America's National Parks," is home to comfort. The lodge encourages decorative elements.

Humphrey says an owner can appreciate the charm and architecture of a Duffy Ranch home without feeling restricted. He suggests keeping mid-century furniture, which was common when the house was built, that still looks fresh today.
"But don't pull the scallop-shaped wooden cornice box and keep your electrician away from the light ceiling," he says.
An antique wood-burning kitchen range built in South Bend, Indiana, and many other items in the home were salvaged from the original homestead when Duffy purchased the property in 1990.
The rust range is restored and converted to propane. It's the center of the kitchen, Duffy said in the Real Estate video.

Duffy added a wing to the house with a high-ceilinged art gallery and primary suite. A separate building with a series of sliding glass doors shelters an indoor swimming pool.
The main ranch, with nine tax lots that can be sold separately, also has two riverfront homes, two detached guest cottages, a manufactured home and three barns. One of Duffy's sons was married on the property and the reception was held in a large barn overlooking the river.
"There are so many different worlds on the property," Duffy says in the video, as he moves from pasture to forest to waterfront area. He said that the natural environment, which is not yet developed, is a feeling that cannot be invented but can be understood in any language.
This feature "just requires a different set of ears and heart to come in and understand," he says in the video.

In addition to two miles of river frontage, the ranch has two acres of base stocked ponds and 110 acres of water rights from the Rogue River.
Across the river is the Rogue River Preserve, a former 352-acre MacArthur Ranch that cannot be developed. The Southern Oregon Land Conservancy owns land that protects rare, rare plant and animal species.
"Stunning scenery, abundant wildlife" such as elk, turkey and herds of black-tailed deer, Duffy says of the DeVries property, 16 miles from Rogue Valley International Airport, which DeVries calls "a true breeding haven." .
A 1, 511-square-meter house on 29.5 hectares at the end of 775 trails, closed fields and old barn remains. The "ranchette," zoned special farm use, has 21.5 hectares of irrigation rights, DeVries says. "This would be a great place to replace an existing home or build your dream home," the listing description explains. "There are many options." Asking price: $719,000.

Before you start looking at Dallas homes for sale, the most important thing you can do as a first-time buyer is to get pre-approved with a local lender. Buyers who have completed the pre-approval process appear to be more active and deliberate buyers than those who have not yet completed this step. A pre-offer approval makes the offer more attractive for the seller to consider and increases the likelihood of success. - Tommy Carter | Premier Agent
Having worked with many first-time home buyers in Dallas, my initial advice is to get pre-approved for a mortgage if you need a loan to buy. Your realtor, friend, co-worker, or even an online resource will be happy to give you a referral. It is not necessary to use a particular mortgage lender to buy, but you will need to determine what you can afford. - Paul Carper | Partner Agent Carper-Miller Real Estate Group

First-time home buyers should listen to their realtor, who will advise them of various options for submitting a winning offer, such as appraisals, add-on clauses, and perhaps paying for an owner's title insurance policy. I always arm my buyers with all their options, so they feel more confident about the offer. - Holy Bell | Premier Agent
As a first-time buyer, don't think you need to know everything - that's far from the case. I often tell first-time buyers that they are better prepared to buy in some ways because their eyes are open. Repeat buyers sometimes think they know how the home buying process works, but if they haven't bought a home in 10 years, the rules, market standards and processes are very different. - Jeremy Larson | Partner Agent, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services
Before buying a home in Dallas, you need to research the Dallas real estate market to determine what type of property you want and the area you want to live. This can help you understand pricing, availability, and competition in your area. - Captain Laura-Marie | Partner Agent, Abad 21 Hakeem Fight Co
Despite high mortgage rates, DFW will be one of the top buyer's markets in the country this year, largely due to the increase in homes that will be on the market. Inventory is expected to reach its peak in October. For February 2023, the median home price in DFW was $384,169 (up 1.6% YOY). Active listings in February 2023 15,743 (up 146.7% YOY). - Glade Smith | Partner Agent, LG Realty Group

Today's housing market in DFW is changing. But it is still a competitive market. We are seeing normalcy in the DFW housing market. This means we are back to pre-pandemic inventory levels. This is good news for all buyers, especially first-time buyers because today's buyers have more options. However, homes that are affordable and ready-made still see competition among buyers. Understanding when and how to respond is essential to securing the best home for your family. - Kelly Bolton | Agent Mitra, Better Homes and Taman Winans
Your lender decides what you can borrow, but you decide what you can afford. Lenders are careful, but they make quality decisions based on averages and formulas. They will not understand your lifestyle and spending patterns as you do. So, leave a little room for the unknown - for all the new opportunities your home has for you to spend money on, from furniture, to landscaping, to renovations. - Lynn Innes Partner Agent, Innes Realty
Lenders will provide you with the maximum amount they are willing to lend you for your purchase. However, I would recommend not "maximizing" your purchase. The mortgage is just one monthly cost to consider when buying a home. - Tony Nuncio | Partner Agent, Nuncio Realty Group, Paragon Realtors
Planning is key when looking for the home you want. It's an exciting home tour, but it's not easy to find the perfect home, move-in ready, with all your wants and needs in mind. I encourage you to keep an open mind when looking at and considering older homes on the market.
