Carrying a MacBook Pro with a built-in camera, ports and speaker system in a backpack gave me freedom during testing. This makes a big difference when I often carry a USB-C hub, Logitech StreamCam, and BeatsFit headphones to use with the Air. The Pro-exclusive 1080p camera is a big upgrade for the box, and it's clearly visible on the top model's stunning OLED Pro Motion screen.
As for that screen, the Pro's exclusive Liquid Retina XDR 120Hz wrapped ProMotion Mini LED display is unmatched. Thanks to a million-to-one contrast ratio and over 1,600 nits of brightness for richer color accuracy and HDR performance, there's no need for a reference monitor for photo or video editing. You can imagine my surprise when I first signed up when neither computer dropped percentage despite having apps open and running LoFi live from a YouTube stream. The Air's 30-watt USB-C 30 battery charges about 1 percent per minute, while the 97-watt MagSafe charger lets the Pro go from completely dead to 50 percent in less than 30 minutes. The MagSafe 3 charger on the Pro also features an updated cable design with a charge indicator light that changes from orange to green when the battery is low.
