We've booked the Bluegreen Vacations Resort Explorer package for $499 for seven nights during members-only Madness Week at select hotels in November. Located south of Orlando on International Drive, the resort is close to Orlando's famous theme parks, three miles from SeaWorld, five miles from Disney Springs and eight miles from Universal Studios. The area surrounding the resort is mostly residential condominiums and other resorts, but there are a variety of dining options a short distance from the resort. This is a walkable area with sidewalks and bus stops on International Drive right outside the resort entrance.
When we arrived, we first stopped at the Welcome Center. The main purpose of this building appears to be to sell tickets to local attractions, but it is also the first stop for visitors with timed promotional packages. Here we produced our driver's licenses and signed forms for the two-hour presentation we had to attend the next day. To enter the actual room, we were directed to the clubhouse. If you don't plan to pitch an ad while you're there, your first stop will be the clubhouse.
The clubhouse is located inside the resort so we had to drive past the guard booth to get to it. We stay in Room 2211 on the second floor of Building 2, opposite the clubhouse and in the middle of the hotel. All units in Tower 2 have patios overlooking Opal Lake and the resort's large pool area.
Our suite has two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed and sits off the living room with windows overlooking the lake. There are bedside tables on either side of the bed, each with a lamp, two USB sockets and two power sockets. There are seven pillows on the bed: two decorative pillows, two king-sized, and three regular-sized.
Across from the bed is a dresser of three dreams. A 48.5-inch flat screen TV sits on the couch. Next to the vanity is a door leading to the suite's terrace.
