We've talked about fillers here many times this past year, but never about anti-wrinkle injections. Today I give you my experience with Xeomin vs Botox. I'm a firm believer that if it makes you feel as good as you look, then go for it. There is nothing wrong with wanting to improve your overall appearance. Anti-wrinkle injections are completely different from fillers. You can read about when I had lip fillers in this post and when I had cheek fillers in this post. Fillers are great for volume loss and fullness. On the other hand, anti-wrinkle injections are injected into the facial muscles of moderate to severe lines and wrinkles to temporarily improve the appearance of these lines. The most popular of these injections are Botox and Xeomin.
Xeomin Vs Botox Which Is Better
For years, Botox has been what many women use for wrinkles and eyelashes. I had Botox done for a good year and I personally love my results. I had treatments every 3 months. It wasn't until I started seeing Dr. Thanks to Etoile Cosmetic Medicine Studio for my fillers I was introduced to Xeomin as an alternative to Botox.
Myths About Botox & Xeomin
I'm not a doctor or an expert on this, but having done Xeomin and Botox, I can say they do exactly the same thing. I saw results with Botox and Xeomin in 3-4 days. They both took that long. I can get 3-4 months before I need to do it again. And both will require the same number of units. However, several units of Botox will give you the same amount of Xeomin. So why Xeomin vs. Is Botox really better? Well for 1 it is very little money.
Botox usually costs about $17 per unit. Xeomin usually works around $13 per unit. For my most recent Xeomin treatment, I had 6 units on my forehead, 25 units on my 11 lines (between my eyebrows) and 8 units on my legs. a trick on my left and 8 parts on my straight legs.
IT'S A BIG SAVING. Something that does the same thing and has the same longevity and effect but costs a lot less doesn't make sense to me. Xeomin is also uniquely refined, clinically proven and FDA approved. Don't sacrifice quality. Keep in mind that the above costs include my cockroach feet. Many women who start anti-wrinkle injections for the first time usually only do it on their foreheads and 11 makes the cost even lower.
I had my forehead and 11 done for about a year. It is important to know that Xeomin will wear out over time making repeated treatments necessary to maintain these lines. I have noticed with treatments every 3 to 4 months that the lines don't come back as deep or as tight as before the treatment. Also, the longer your lines are, the more difficult it can be to trim them. This leads me to my next point - getting Xeomin before your 30s is very beneficial to prevent lines from being drawn. I have one stubborn line that even with repeated treatments will not go away completely.
My Experience With Xeomin Vs Botox
You can see on the front and back how much my movement has changed when I push the forehead. No lines after treatment. I look refreshed, more alert and bonus - my makeup goes on much better.
I also chose to have my crow's feet around my eyes treated with Xeomin. This was actually my first time getting these lines, but I love how smooth the skin around my eyes felt after the treatment.
If you are new to anti-wrinkle injections, I totally recommend getting your forehead to 11 as you will see visible results. This area takes up a large part of our face. However, adding facial lines and crow's feet can go a long way in enhancing your face and adding a flawless, smooth complexion.
It's always the #1 question people have. No it doesn't hurt. The whole procedure takes 15 to 20 minutes and the pain from the injections is quick and not bad at all. Less painful than a flu shot! As with fillers, you can take arnica tablets for a few days before going to reduce swelling and/or bruising. In fact, I have never had any swelling from Xeomin or Botox.
