Delta Flights To Athens Greece
The Atlanta-based airline announced it will add daily service from its Atlanta (ATL) megahub to Athens (ATH) beginning July 2, shortly after Delta's New York-JFK flight resumes on July 28.

Both routes will be operated by 293-seat Airbus A330-300, equipped with 34 Delta One herringbone capsules, 40 comfort + seats with extra legroom and 219 standard economy seats.
Delta last flew the 5,700-mile seasonal route Atlanta-Athena in July 2011, according to Cirium's schedule, so the announcement technically represents the resumption of service for the airline.
The airline also reaffirmed its commitment to resume daily flights from New York-JFK to ATH on May 28, as previously scheduled, making Delta the first airline to resume flights from the US to Athens. Emirates' fifth freedom route from Newark (EWR) to ATH is scheduled to resume a few days later on June 1.
Delta touts that in addition to nonstop service from its two largest hubs, the airline can sell one-time connections from 187 domestic cities.

The push for services to Greece comes just days after the country officially reopened to tourists from the European Union and five other countries, including the United States, who can present a vaccination certificate or a negative COVID-19 test.
