The Murdock, MN family-owned company has just introduced the 2019 model MCI J4500, expanding its fleet to four J4500 buses that are no older than the 2015 model year.

The 2019 MCI J4500 has class-leading legroom and a maximum passenger configuration of 60 seats, matching its 2018 interior design. We used to order our J4500 with 50 or 52 passenger seats because we need legroom for charter flights. Our local university, which also has its own sports programs, said owner Kevin Riley, who represents the third generation of the family to run the business.
In its new 2019 J4500 bus, Riley opted for a 56-passenger configuration because the models cabin was more spacious. He also said that a new optional power window and variable RGB lighting packages have been added to the model that illuminate the interior in different colors "for a bus that gives our passengers a premium and good-looking interior."
Riley also added optional MCI Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) available with the Bendix Fusion. It's a collision mitigation system that includes a forward-facing camera and windshield-mounted object detection software to further detect moving and stationary objects, lane markings, road signs, plus a 360-degree camera that provides a bird's-eye view. "All four of our coaches go from coast to coast," Riley said. "Having new buses will help ensure safety and reliability on the road. We also conduct quarterly safety training for our 15 drivers. In 1939 Riley's grandparents started a school bus business to serve Murdock School District 7. In the 1970s, their daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Glen Riley, bought the business, along with their son Kevin, who became a partner in the 1980s. and took over the company in 1996. MCI's relationship with the company began with the first MC-7 in 1981, and more MCIs would follow.

In 2021, on April 22, Rostad Tours held the first tour after the Covid shutdown. We were back in business except we couldn't get into Canada. In 2022 we worked all over the US and finally Canada, so our Canadian friends were very happy to be back on our tour bus. So, in less than 26 months, we've gone from over a year of touring buses to everywhere in June for the rest of the year (except for the Christmas tours, which have just started). We want to thank all our travel customers for coming back in such great numbers. We are very proud to have toured the USA and Canada - "From Sea to Shining Sea" for the past 46 years.
