Area Agencies On Aging Getting The Boot
The agency's CEO, Doug Beach, told reporters Tuesday morning that the goal of the initiative is to help seniors live safely and independently in their own homes.
"It is common for us to hear elderly people saying that it is too difficult to climb the stairs in front of their house or room, or that they are afraid of falling into the bathroom when they use the shower," he said. Common concerns we regularly hear from our seniors. But the biggest concern I hear over and over again is, 'I want to live in my own home.'"
June Taylor, the agency's chief of operations and strategy, introduced new programs, including Cuyahoga County's Great Food Giveaway, a partnership with area supermarkets to provide seniors with non-perishable food and hygiene items. The program is expected to begin in late March, Taylor said.
