Host families provide room and board for students and should treat students as family members, not guests. Students are responsible for their own travel expenses, health insurance, tuition, cell phone bills, and pocket money. EF and the US Department of State set certain requirements for all households. For example, adoptive parents must be 25 or older, have a background check, and be in a stable and comfortable household.
