The galley kitchen includes Avonite surfaces, bamboo cabinets, microwave, induction stove, stainless steel sink and refrigerator, and a bamboo coffee table. Other bamboo upper cabinets provide storage for clothing and gear, while built-in LED lighting throughout the truck will keep you strong even in the darkest winter. All factory seats have been reupholstered in premium two-tone leather, and the additional fabric used in the truck is hemp.
While many trucks forgo an interior shower due to space constraints, the Power Plant uses a full-size stainless steel shower cubicle with a bamboo exterior. Or you can shower in the back of the truck using an external shower head and hose system. A 40 liter fresh water tank gives you plenty of water, and outside, additional lighting strips, an awning system and solar panels complete the services.

Considering all the custom features, the powerhouse doesn't come cheap. With just over 5,000 miles, this 2016 rig is asking $240,000. Last year we saw several new launches capable of competing for the title of the most impressive campervan in the world. The Affinity campervan and the Frankia Yucon 7.0 lounge are two that immediately spring to mind, and we'd be remiss if we didn't bring up the Hymer Vision Venture, even though it's only a concept. Joining this selection is the new Alphavan, a massive Mercedes Sprinter featuring a double bedroom layout, a built-in entertainment suite and a smart home-level control system accessible throughout the interior and exterior of the van.

The Alphavan is a sibling to the 2021 Vöhringer ConceptCamper we reviewed last week. Alphavan founder Stefan Krause teamed up with Vöhringer on the Spinter ConceptVan shown at the Dusseldorf Motorhome Show 2019. Essentially a prototype version of the Alphavan, the concept highlighted the lightweight potential of Vöhringer's Vunder Tech furniture materials, which was once again on display inside the Ducato - based on ConceptCamper.
Krause, for his part, pushed forward with the Vunder Tech-designed Sprinter shown at the 2019 ConceptVan, forming Alphavan to bring the design to market. Alphavan offers one of the largest fully equipped campers yet manages to keep it lighter than some vans with less space.
The Alphavan is based on Mercedes' biggest Sprinter, a 736cm (290") extra-long wheelbase version with an extra-tall roof (299cm+). For comparison, this truck is about 1.5 meters (5 feet) longer than the Sprinter 144 truck supporting notable campers like the Winnebago Revel and Westfalia James Cook. Although the Alphavan is a metal Mercedes van and not a separately built trailer unit on a Sprinter chassis, it is significantly larger than the La Strada Nova M Sprinter motorhome and its big brother, the Nova EB.
Alphavan doesn't let its echo-inducing truck cab size go to waste, relying on Vunder Tech panel furniture to provide all the comfort of a proper trailer without the height of a split axle. In fact, you don't even need to upgrade the chassis, as the lightweight construction material saves enough weight to keep the wagon under 3,500 kg (7,716 lb), the lowest gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) for a runner this size. There is also a difference, because the European Union classifies vehicles weighing up to 3,500 kg as a light vehicle, which is allowed to be driven with a normal class B driver's license. Larger vehicles are subject to separate restrictions and licensing.
