Casino Buffet In San Diego - My mom had the great idea to treat Jake and I to a "free" buffet at Valley View Casino last month. I'm sure he planned carefully. Mom took a trip to the casino while Jake and I went partying! The buffet (with lobster!) is normally $32.99 on weekends, so this is a deal. Thanks, Mom, for being a big time player!

We went on a Saturday morning. Mom told us that the best time to go is when it first opens, so there won't be a line. No one wants to have a buffet at 11am except us, I guess.

There are many options here at Valley View Casino buffet. What I like is that everything in this buffet is in small portions. I noticed that there are many chefs behind the line and it looks like they are both All are always cooking and preparing dishes. Jake's first plate he got a salad. That's how I knew the bacon bits were real bacon, good boy

He gave me some chicken wings to try. It had a good taste from the sticky sweet glaze in it but it was a little salty.

Jake's second dish involved more orange chicken (which is Jake's favorite). The macaroni and cheese was creamy and very good. The potato masala was nice and creamy but a little thin (the gravy helped a little).

My first plate consisted of prime rib (yikes), mushroom ravioli (love - more mushrooms stuffed in cream and cream Alfredo sauce), some other pasta (that's strangely sour?), cilantro rice, quarter avocado, coconut shrimp (well., mine).

For the lobster tail, if you want to dip your lobster in liquid butter (like me), you have to ask your server for a cup o' butter and they will bring it to you.

My 2nd plate… consisted of more lobster (Jake got one for me because you can only have it once), macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans with almonds, one carrot, a little dessert. Potatoes, oysters and strange dry corn bread

I like the cabbage which is fresh and tasty. The macaroni and cheese is nice and creamy. The clams/mussels are ok, nothing to write home about. Of course, I like the shrimp. It is sweet and fresh and dipped in hot butter.

I think they want you to get help so you don't just pour chocolate syrup on your face. I feel that maybe it happened and now this sign exists

For me… it's really hard! I got this orange cake, a very light orange cake - the texture reminded me of a tres leche cake (more moist) but with a stronger orange flavor. I find it too mild for my moisturizer

I love the look of it with the shiny, shiny top. They really know how to make sweets look cute! The top is a soft meringue with a marshmallow consistency. I didn't enjoy the top but I loved the chocolate bottom! I just scraped off the top and enjoyed the bottom of the chocolate cream.

There was rice pudding in a tall bowl with raspberries. The green cake was a small lemonade that Jake ordered from me. That was his favorite - it tasted good and reminded us of Key West. Inside the cream puff (which was covered in chocolate with a gold flake on top) was vanilla bean custard (you can still see the vanilla bean speck). The cookies are shortbread like cookies with pecans and dusted in powdered sugar. My favorite item is in the mini cup – it has coffee flavored mousse with creamy little chocolate balls topped with whipped cream and a little chocolate. I love the coffee flavor of those little desserts!

Jake and I love this buffet more than any other. Not everything is outstanding but I love the variety and freshness. I also love that they have so many options - lots of sides, sugar free desserts, and more!
