Yes!au Pair Cultural Exchange Program With Elite Host Family In China|gap Year
Can't host for an academic year or semester, but excited about the idea of a cultural exchange? Be a welcome and host family for 2-3 months.
We are happy to offer our Welcome Family Program to families who are interested in hosting but are hesitant to commit to a full year or semester.
The Welcome Family promises to host exchange students in the host community for the first 2-3 months of the student exchange or until the end of the permanent family.
As a Welcome Family, you will fulfill the dream of exchange students and help them adjust to a new community and school in the United States, while a long-term family is identified through the EF network.
Reasons Why You Should Host An Exchange Student
Hosting a student allows families to commit to a shorter term if not a year or semester. Our families and students receive the same support and guidance at EF's local and global offices.
Short-term host families help our students start their exchanges off on the right foot. If during the experience the host family realizes that they want to host their student for an extended period of time, we welcome this change and work with the host family through the process.
We exchange more students to the United States each year than any other high school exchange program. Since 1979, our organization has connected more than 100,000 international students with caring host families across America. We are proud to partner with the US State Department to advance public diplomacy through our program.
We only accept students who excel in intercultural exchanges. Our thorough screening and preparation process prepares our students for success.

Host Families In Southeast Iowa Wanted For International Students
Host families provide room and board for the student and are expected to treat their student as a member of the family, not as a guest. Students are responsible for travel expenses, health insurance, school fees, cell phones, and spending money. EF and the US State Department also set specific requirements for all host families. For example, host parents must be at least 25 years of age or older, pass a background check, and have a stable and suitable household. If you're interested, let us know and we'll help you determine if your family qualifies for the program!
Our families represent the diversity of American culture, and we encourage families of all shapes and sizes to apply. There is no "typical" host family. Some families have young or teenage children, while others may be single or newly married. Our families include singles, same-sex couples, and grandparents, and we think they're all great hosts. The most important thing for us is to have a caring family, a comfortable and stable environment and interest in welcoming foreign exchange students in your daily life.
Host families are not paid. According to the US State Department, host families do not receive a financial benefit from participating in the exchange student program. This rule is designed to ensure that host families are participating in the program for the right reasons. However, given their role as citizen ambassadors, host families can claim a charitable tax credit on their tax return.
EF exchange students come from 13 countries in Europe and Asia. They come from different communities and backgrounds, helping to provide an interesting range of readers to choose from.
