It's the center of the city, whether you're looking to gamble, party or just soak up the madness of Las Vegas. So it makes sense that you want to live there if you can, but is it affordable to live on the Las Vegas Strip?

Is there such a thing as a budget hotel on the Las Vegas Strip? After checking out a variety of hotels, from budget stays to luxury resorts, here are my suggestions to help you decide where to stay on the Las Vegas Strip, no matter how much you want to spend.
But first, here are some tips to help you choose the best Las Vegas hotel for you.
Las Vegas is a favorite weekend vacation destination in the United States, so if you can stay away on Friday and Saturday nights, you can often pick up a bargain. I stayed at the Paris Las Vegas on a Thursday night and the price for the same room quadrupled the second night.
But you don't have to consider only the day of the week. There is no real peak season in Las Vegas, but the city gets busier around the American holidays, especially between Christmas and New Year's and during spring break. Then there are events - if there's a big show or conference in town, hotel prices can really go up, so check the event listings as well.
Las Vegas Strip Hotel And Casino Reopens As Adults Only Venue
There are over 30 hotels located on the Las Vegas Strip, but not all Strip locations are created equal. The strip is four miles long, and hotels run along its length, so if you stay at one end, you have a long way to get to town or the other end.
Frequent Deuce buses run the strip 24 hours a day and cost $8 for 24 hours. But traffic can slow you down. So if you are limited on time and want to visit a lot of places, you might be better off paying a bit more to get a more convenient location.
Even when you have chosen a hotel and determined the best dates, the price of the same hotel can vary depending on where you are looking. I found the same room at the Bellagio for a week in August on various websites ranging from $180/£135 to $240/£180.
So it's a good idea to shop around and try a few different booking sites as well as the hotel's own website. If the prices are very similar then it is often worth booking directly with the hotel as there are many loyalty schemes where you can get discounts or freebies.

Most hotels in Las Vegas add daily supplements that are not included in the room rate, whether you book directly or through a booking website. Hotel stays range from $25 to $45 per night before taxes, and you usually pay at the end of your stay.
Originally, the fee was to cover extra services – and some hotels include extras such as airport transfers, local phone calls or fitness facilities – but now it can be a sneaky way to increase profits. Some hotels are more specific about their fees than others, but always check. For the hotels listed here, I've added the resort fee to the price so it's clear.
You might think you have to stay at an off-street hotel if you're on a budget — like the Westgate* — but with so much competition in Las Vegas, some resorts are offering cheaper rooms in hopes that guests will spend big. At their casino. So you can buy cheap.
Budget hotels in Las Vegas are usually located at one end of the strip, such as the STRAT* (formerly the Stratosphere) on the north side. It's in a seedy area and there's not much going on, but it's an easy two-mile bus ride to the Central Strip or Fremont Street. My STRAT 'select' room had two double beds and a bathroom with a private bath. You don't have many extras, but the rooms are spacious and clean.

The casino has several dining options, including a microbrewery, a grill, a coffee shop, and a Starbucks that's good for breakfast. There's also a pool under the tower (but there aren't many sunbeds so grab one early), in a great position to watch people jump from the top. Resort tax is $36 per night, and hotel guests receive half-price admission to the tower's observation deck (normally $25).
If you have a little more to spend, head to the southern end of the strip to the vintage-style Tropicana*. It is one of the few original casinos from the 1950s, and although it has been renovated by the current Hilton owners, it still has its retro entrance - complete with vintage Chevy.
Inside, it's decorated in a light and airy tropical 'South Beach style', with white walls decorated with pops of green and orange. I stayed in a standard Paradise Tower room, but you can also upgrade to a Pool Bungalow. All rooms have plantation-style blinds and rattan furniture to match the theme, along with a large flat-screen TV, safe and desk.
The Lagoon pool is a nice place to relax, with a waterfall and hot tub and plenty of sunbeds and cabanas surrounded by palm trees. There is a theater, a comedy club and a live music venue. Dining options include a casual beach cafe, Bakeu Italian Restaurant, Robert Irvine's Public House and Red Lotus Asian Cuisine. The restaurant fee is $37 per night.
Las Vegas: Best High End Luxury Hotels On The Strip
Stretch your budget a little more and you can stay in the heart of the Strip at the Paris Las Vegas*. It is in a great location, an easy walk to the main attractions. The hotel is complete with a Parisian theme, with its own version of the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre. And of course, there's the Eiffel Tower - with a giant octagonal pole under one leg.
I stayed in a large corner room, decorated in the style of the French Versailles period, with antique-looking dark wood furniture, gold and blue decorations and a pink marble bathroom. Although the rooms aren't the most modern, they have a coffee maker and a refrigerator, and I had chairs by the window to get a great view of the Bellagio fountains.
The Eiffel Tower in Paris is home to the Chateau Nightclub on the lower deck and a restaurant and observation deck at the top. The resort has a total of 15 restaurants, including Gordon Ramsay Steakhouse, East Coast Italian, Rooftop Bar & Grill, Parisian Creperie and Mon Ami Gabi Bistro, which overlooks the strip. The restaurant fee is $37 per night.
The Bellagio* may not be the fanciest hotel on the Strip, but to me it's classic Las Vegas—where you still feel like you're pushing the bar with Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. The resort is the largest on the Strip with nearly 4,000 rooms, but with a high staff-to-guest ratio, you wouldn't know it by the service.

The resort is in the heart of the Strip, but behind the lake are those famous fountains, so you're away from the hustle and bustle of the streets. The rooms are decorated in muted colors, with Italian furniture in an unusual, elegant style. There are 20 places to eat around the Bellagio, one of which has $100 million worth of Picasso paintings on the walls.
Bellagio also has its own designer shopping mall where you can find Armani and Chanel, a spa, an art gallery, indoor botanical gardens, a nightclub, a cocktail bar and a Cirque du Soleil show. There are five pools within the resort where you can reserve a luxury cabana complete with ice towels. The restaurant fee is $45 per night.
My husband and I are looking to travel to Vegas and were wondering if any of the hotels/motels offer in-room kitchens. We are on a tight budget and thought we could save some money by eating food that we eat ourselves instead of going out or ordering in every meal.
We love the Hilton Vacation Resort at Flamingo! Complete "apartment" with kitchen, etc. At regular room rates. The area is also great, close to the Flamingo Casino and the Vegas Monorail station.
