Nellis And Las Vegas Blvd - LAS VEGAS (KLAS) - Metro police are investigating a homicide that is believed to have started as a domestic dispute and ended in a shooting.
According to the sheriff's department, around 10 a.m., police were alerted to multiple shots fired in the area of North Nellis Boulevard near Las Vegas Boulevard by its ShotSpotter system. Shortly after that, Metro Lt. Ray Spencer said there was a 911 call about a domestic dispute involving a man and a woman at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of Nellis.

The woman, 29-year-old Vankeedra Gloriajean Johnson, died of a gunshot wound to the torso.

Spencer said that when police arrived, a black woman in her 20s was lying in a covered parking lot at the complex with a gunshot wound. She was taken to UMC where she was pronounced dead.
"Officers located and arrested a male who we believe to be a suspect and we are conducting those interviews," Lt. Spencer said.
The ShotSpotter system is a sound detection system that uses sensors around the canyon to alert police when gunshots are heard.
